Really? You dont think they are sexist against conservative women?
No. Disliking a conservative that happens to be a woman is not being sexist. Just like disliking a Democrat who happens to be black is not being racist. Man, you folks on the right need to stop being so PC all the time.
Did McCain get front page articles about how much his suits cost? Here we go:

First Lady Michelle Obama steps out in Lanvin sneakers and they're only $540!

Oh, wait, crap.

Bachman and Palin has done something that in the future we will thank them for. They have shown what progressives really think of woman with strength of character.
no, it shows the progressives just don't care for blundering idiots.

Bachmann is a joke, trying to appeal to uneducated voters, of which we have way too many. I doubt she actually personally raised all of those adopted kids either. Afterall wasn't she some sort of tax attorney, a profession she indulged in instead of staying home and raising those kids? And being a tax person, she damn well knows of the special exemptions and loopholes in the tax codes that at times only benefit one company. Wasn't she against going after these loopholes? Wonder why? Oh, that would mean more tax revenues and we sure as hell can't have that! China needs more investment...

Gee, you're right, I never saw an unflattering picture of any Democratic Woman, yet every picture I see of Republican women make them look crazy, they all seem to have this insane look, and when they open their mouth, crazy comes out. So microphones are just as bad as the cameras........

I thinks it is appropriate. Michelle Bachman is crazy. Anything the media can do to get that message out they should.

Why would anyone be pissed? Being liberal doesn't stop one from gettin' with a conservative chick. Just ask my mom and dad.

Honestly? I like the second one better. But I happen to have a thing for brunettes with glasses - I'll even admit it, I think Palin is kinda cute for that reason.

I kinda like the second, she looks more natural and real. The first just looks too posed.

If you're on the topic of "generally", I'd say "generally" the hotter the chick is, the less she's got between the ears (disclaimer: obviously there are exceptions to every stereotype). What does that do to your argument.

And that's your argument against liberal sexism?

Ditto.

As for the OP, the cover is obviously unflattering but to blame it on a wide-ranging campaign of sexism or partisanship on the part of Newsweek would take a bit more evidence. I think it was Speakeasy that pointed out it's anti-Bachmann, if nothing else.

Is it me, or is US politics getting more and more petty?

OK, so the photo on this week's Newsweek cover makes her look like a deranged deer in the headlights, but is it cause for a shit storm?

The right is going crazy, if you spend any time in the blogs. But is it anti-republican?

After the rather unflattering cover of Sarah Palin as a cheerleader and the caption "What do you do about a problem like this?" I go along with the idea it is more sexist than an attack on the right.

But then, I am not at all surprised that Americans put a black man in the White House before they elected a woman president.

Michele Bachmann Newsweek cover: Is it sexist?
It's both sexist and anti-Republican.

Pictures convey a powerful message, and it's true that a picture is worth a thousand words. That picture of Bachmann makes her look like a deranged wacko. The picture is obviously intended to discredit her.

It's a cheap shot.

Would Newsweek have done that to a male candidate comparable to Bachmann? I think they would. I think their intention was more political than sexist.

With Time and Newsweek this is SOP. Remember the OJ picture they altered to show him as the creep that he is. But they did not have to alter the picture to show he was a murderer. OJ did that all by himself.

Time and Newsweek are liberal outlets. And liberals hate Conservative woman, they fear them, they can not stand a woman of strength.

That's a baseless claim. At best, you can say that liberals hate conservative women because they're conservative. Liberals like women of strength, Hillary Clinton, Janeane Garofalo, etc (two women mentioned in this very thread).

It's because conservatives hate women of strength, such as Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Janeane Garafalo, Michelle Obama...

Oh, and they hate minorities.

And they all have cooties. And think Godfather III is the best Godfather movie.

See, there's hope for you yet... You're not even a liberal though, so if he can manage it, so can you!
