Muslim immigrants to Europe are nowhere near taking over and they wont be anywhere near in my lifetime. Some of the views you see about Europe on here are so far from the truth it's laughable and this is just the latest example.
The UK for example is pretty non religious and religion is nowhere near as important here as in the US and that is a major impediment to any faith gaining a major foothold here for a start. |

Political parties having summer camps is weird, there is no doubt of that, even if this one is relatively benign and redundant since any parent willing to pay to send their kid to it would spout the same propaganda at home. Of course at that age and ideology it's more about getting laid and stoned than it is about spreading the glorious workers revolution, but it's not hard to see why the shooter saw the camp as party of the problem. He will now have 20 years to think about how shooting them was a part of the solution. |

So you agree with what Beck said? For shame - I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Also, that is the actual quote, as far as I can tell. If you've got a different one, then post it. |

Like what? Do you have the quote? and the context it was said in? “As the thing started to unfold and there was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth. Who does a camp for kids that’s all about politics? Disturbing,” Beck said. Glenn Beck: Norway camp ‘sounds a little like the Hitler Youth’ - BlogPost - The Washington Post I don't think the context really matters to be honest. |

Right, the fact someone just shot up a camp for indoctrinating teenagers in Marxist propaganda doesn't make the existence of a camp for indoctrinating teenagers in Marxist propaganda any less disturbing. I suppose many Americans on here would (correctly) be angry if such a shooting had taken place in a camp of the Young Republicans and Europeans had been making these claims. |

Leaving the "marxist propaganda" bullshit aside it was ( once again) a youth camp organised by the youth organisation of the (ruling) norwegian Social Democratic Party. Likening the Social Democrats to the Hitler Youth reveals such an breathtaking level of ignorance and disrespect for the victims that discussion basically becomes pointless. But ANY political party with a "young wing" can only have it for a single purpose, indoctrination. And that is true for the silly attempts to justify it as well. I suppose many Americans on here would (correctly) be angry if such a shooting had taken place in a camp of the Young Republicans and Europeans had been making these claims. |

NIf you can find evidence that such a place exists for anyone under the voting age, you might have a point. Tea party summer camp held in Florida School is out and kids have hours and hours of free time to terrorize the neighbors, make their room messy, and ... attend a tea party summer camp? A tea party group called the Tampa 912 Project will host a weeklong seminar in mid-July that promises to teach Florida kids about the principles on which the group says our nation was founded. Those principles include: ”America is good,” “I believe in God, and he is the center of my life,” and “I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.” Conservative writer Jeff Lukens, who organized the camp for kids aged 8-12, told TampaBay.com , “We want to impart to our children what our nation is about, and what they may or may not be told.” Lukens says God will be a big part of the discussion. The camp, which is called Tampa Liberty, will be held at the Paideia Christian school in Temple Terrace, Fla. Alex Pareene at Salon writes of the camp: “I can't even write jokes about what the children will do at this camp, because the Tea Party people have predicted all of the jokes and made them real.” For example, the camp will teach kids about the gold standard by giving them candies and paper as currency at the beginning of the week, and then only paper money after that. Over time, students will see their paper money buy less and less, while the candies will retain their value. “Some of the kids will fall for it,” Lukens said. “Others kids will wise up.“ In another exercise, the kids will be told to sit quietly in an austere room, symbolizing Europe, and then pass through an obstacle course to arrive at a brightly decorated party room, which symbolizes the New World. Red-white-and-blue confetti will be thrown, and then the kids will have to clean the room up, learning that “with freedom comes responsibility.” Talking Points Memo says the smart kids will, “of course, use their hard, wrapped candies to pay other kids to clean up the confetti.” The concept of socialism will also be taught by using bubbles. The camp, which can fit 40 students, runs from July 11-15. By Elizabeth Flock | 02:34 PM ET, 06/15/2011 Tea party summer camp held in Florida - BlogPost - The Washington Post |

Well, there is the "Tea Party Summer Camp" that was held by The Tampa 912 Project.. that's right, folks - irony of ironies - this is actually a summer camp for kids aged 8-12, inspired by none other than Glenn Beck himself. The 9/12 Project is a creation of Glenn Becks, and The Tampa 912 Project is one of it's many spin-off groups. Fans of Glenn Beck will find the themes familiar. As Glenn Beck would say, it's "disturbing". |

1. That is a) a claim (in relation to Norway, not to the Hitler youth) and b) irrelevant to the issue at hand ( a guy causing a bloodbath in a youth camp). Wether they were there for playing soccer or "marxist propaganda" does not matter. Other groups that regularly organize youth trips are the christian churches f.e. Do you also find that "disturbing" ? |

Indeed, and although I'm not a fan of Youth Universities (or whatever they're called) for political parties, I think it's a travesty to call the one we're discussing, as Commodore did, a "marxist indoctrination camp". Now, Beck's little project, on the other hand... A spade is a spade. |
