Good riddance to the fucker, hopefully the kill is confirmed, and hopefully this is the beginning of the end of al qaeda. Hopefully they got a bunch of intelligence from the location afterwards.

jvie is right, this will be thrown around as a partisan issue.
Why shouldn't he get credit for this? And why would anyone begrudge him this except anyone whose totally flipped their priorities on what's important and what's bullshit...one should always root for a victory against national enemies and this guy speaks for itself. I'd give Hitler the top bid of dead enemies but this guy might be second place. And I'll admit my bias here given my losses and near losses in my own family due to him as head of AQ.

I'll sleep well tonight knowing my cousin has been avenged and my others nearly killed also have their justice as will all who have been victimised by him and all those who have hunted him, some dying in the quest. Well done to the nation today and those who played a role in this operation and all those whose vigilance made it possible.

The partisans on the right protested Obama increasing his attacks and missions in Pakistan. Now we know why.

Thank goodness we had member of the Democratic party in the Whitehouse, a member of the party that actually cares about killing terrorists. McCain wanted to go into Iran for petes sake!

Well the clip below explains why the REPUBLICAN administration couldn't catch Osama bin Laden.

Justice.

Three Cheers for all who made this possible, all the way up the chain of command.

Obamas on TV, says he was planning this since day one, and it was all him. And we're not at war with Islam. Oh and he finally thanked the troops that actually risked their lives to kill him.

Hmmm, a guy on dialysis in the middle of the desert. Are we sure he was killed in a missile strike, or was it old age/illness that got him? Either way it's a good thing he's dead, but I mean gees, way to do things quickly...

In a gunfight, in a mansion outside Islamabad.

It's no wonder they waited a week, just to give the Pakistanis a chance to change their robes....

Al Quaeda is a lot more than just Osama.

But I'll believe it when I see a body.

Yikes, Gaddafi's son yesterday, Bin Laden today (although I guess it happened days or a week ago).

Obama was friggin' serious about taking out baddies if he had the chance. People are outside the WH cheering.

So there, Bin Laden's dead. We win. So can we bring everyone home already?

This is awesome, there's a celebratory crowd out front of the White House.

It doesn't matter the slightest who is in the Oval Office.

Why shouldn't he get credit for this?
Our troops, particularly special forces deserve the vast majority of the credit, and to appreciate them is not a partisan stance.

Obama deserves credit for allowing actions in Pakistan, something bush seemed to shy away from. Also, he and his administration deserve credit for keeping everything so secret, during and after the operation when politics is usually completely full of leaks.

If this happened a week ago, then it makes sense to wait to announce it. For one, it allows intelligence gathered at the scene to be used to get other top henchmen, and it allows for rigorous determination of whether in fact it was bin laden and not a look-alike, etc.

I'm sure if this had happened under bush, the right would not stop patting themselves on the back for years regarding how bush got bin laden, texas gunfight style.

Sorry to hear about your family killed, and glad to see they are avenged.

Of course it does, at least symbolically.

If the Berlin Wall comes down somebody else's watch, than they get the perceived credit.

If Bush was still President, he'd get the perceived credit.

I'm not saying Obama is the man or anything, but it certainly doesn't hurt him.

Osama had a bounty on his head. Some credit may go to an informant, who is now 25 million dollars richer.

It didn't help papa Bush in his re-election bid.

Buck stops with the Commander in Chief, whether it's his fault or not. He resisted calls to pull out, so at least for that much he certainly gets credit. Hard to see how we pull this mission off without boots on the ground in Afghanistan. Shipping SEALs around the world rather than by quick helicopter trip just isn't as feasible. That's why Clinton could never get him.
