If it's the Democrats' "badge of honor" why's the deficit jump so high so fast when the Republicans are in charge? |

Currently entitlements are 40% of the budget. And I am no way suggesting that Social Security and Medicare doesn't need to be addressed--it does. |

Dems plan ahead. They make mandatory programs which last for decades and costs 100% of the revenue, then demonize anyone who tries to stop it. Deficits jump up with Republicans are in charge because Dems have already spent all the money for decades ahead. Which means no money left to defend the country or provide justice. Have you seen the Democrats? |

Pleeeeeeeeeease shut it down. Repubs have already lost the union vote in '12, why not add all the old people on SS to the mix!!!
No but seriously all this talk about Dem's spending is malarkey. The shortfalls were all projected before Obama set foot in the friggen Oval Office lol. Name some bills other than the stimulus that Dems passed that added to the deficit? Name one! Actually the Dems' net effect has been a reduction of the projected deficit via healthcare reform. I cannot take anyone seriously making the claim that somehow the deficit is a Democratic created problem. BTW pleeeease shut down the government Republicans. Overreach like Walker in WI. |

He did qualify some of these issues in his original post. But I wanna know how we are giving tax breaks if we are about to shut down the government? For comparison, we onlly pay 1% of each EU countrys budget to our socalled federal government. But keep in mind that the EU is propably tenfold worse than your federal government when it comes to wasting money and scamming its citizens. |

You're right again--Pram They've all had a hand in this mess. But you must admit that it is Republican politicians that are taking this much more seriously than Democrats are right now. The economists seem to be pretty consistently bashing both sides and saying "uh, guys, you're both completely missing it." |

The economists seem to be pretty consistently bashing both sides and saying "uh, guys, you're both completely missing it." That's why people think there honestly is a roughly even dispute within science about global warming, when in fact there is nothing like that. That's why people don't know that most economists understand that cutting spending now will cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and threaten the recovery. I'll be curious to see if the mainstream media even bothers to cover the outrage in Wisconsin the next few days. Maybe a few minutes here and there, then back to coverage of Charlie Sheen. |

With a federal taxation so extreme the feds MUST provide various of other "services" than the military, and what is mentioned in the OP. |

If you only judge these things by what you hear in the "mainstream media," then you almost always get the impression that both sides are roughly equally valid, because the mainstream media doesn't want to appear partisan. The GOP has taken advantage of this reluctance by the media to call a spade a spade for years. So shut the dam thing down--before these morons do more damage. |

Dude we're in the middle of a pair of wars and we seem quickly headed into a 3rd. Shutting down the Feds would be a poor choice, and damn near suicidal considering today's political climate. No thanks. Really--the only thing you'll miss is your favorite beaurocrat sleeping behind his desk. In fact the overwhelming majority of Americans wouldn't even notice a federal government shut-down. Think of the money we taxpayers could save--LOL |

What a bullshit "poll." Well just close your eye's & maybe that 14 trillion dollar deficit will just disappear all by itself-- |

$$$$$$$$$ With nearly 1/5th of the world's wealth, we are told we need to shut down the federal government. Wow, where is all that money at? If only there were individuals with thousands of times more wealth than the average hard working American that we could make pitch in more. But no, that would be too easy.
