We're all "human", sure, but honestly, I have to question the suitability of someone like this to hold a seat in Congress. At best, he's shown a profound lack of judgement.

Hell, I don't even use profanity on Facebook...

Pathetic? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. When Clinton got his BJ from Monica and I read the transcripts, she said Billy said, oh....it's been sooo long. I never judged Clinton for what he did, but I DID have a problem with him going on national TV and wagging his finer saying "I never had sex with that woman, Ms Lewinski".
That being said I don't give this guy a pass, just saying he is human, he erred, he is paying the price. BF deal.
I may not be "without sin" but one thing I am without is having a resume that includes being married all while running around shirtless on craigslist trying to pick up women. But, that is all besides the point of this genius has now added himself to a long and distinguished list of people all claiming to be about family, values, whatever the hell else all the while acting like idiots on the side. Judgement is pretty much irrelevant here as that ship has sailed... he already resigned, refuses to answer to anyone about it (including those that voted him into office,) probably done with public office anyway, probably will become yet another in a long line of elected jokes, etc. He does not need a pass from you, me, or anyone else. I am sure his wife would agree. This is not about being human, this is about public officials claiming to be one thing but clearly are something else. And we wonder why trust is a word we do not use with any politician these days. This is about hypocrisy, this about another marriage probably lost, a child who will probably hear about it more than anyone else (they do have a kid... "thanks dad"), and to be honest terribly stupid expectations and arrogance on being able to act and get away with shit like this. He joins a list of others disgraced and all of their own doing with terrible consequences. So he did not jump up on national television and hide the truth about it, changes little. "BF deal?" Tell that to his wife and kid.

Hey, at least he has the decency to retire.

Barney Frank and John Ensign apparently don't.

He isn't, he's just a homosexual pork barrel sucubus, which IMO is much worse than a married guy trying to get some strange.
Yes, dear! I knew that. . .but you see. . .I have no problem with gay people. In fact, I find that many gay men make better friends than many women!

And, if someone is not in a committed relationship (whether it be marriage or partnership/union), it is ABSOLUTELY not my problem what he or she does in his/her bedroom!

And I don't even have a huge issue about a man/woman cheating on his/her partner. . .it's not my business either. But it does make me question his/her judgement, honesty, and self-control!

What I do find offensive is outright homophobia!

First, it's not hypocrisy if you do it and resign. It's hypocrisy when you do it and try to hang onto your job, like Vitter or Ensign.

Secondly, it's a pretty mild hypocrisy given that Repubilcans aren't really on a crusade to stop adultery. Contrast that to Democrats and their pillorying of business and favoring of high taxes. Then look at what liberals actually do: avoid taxes, and make $315 million selling a website to AOL, which was built by writers who don't get paid.

Huffington: $315 million. Writers: 0

Well, the Republicans of the 90s certainly made a big deal about Clinton's adultery. Ensign was one of them.

It may not be hypocrisy in relation to his job. . .I would think it is hypocrisy in relation to his wife!

And. . . aren't you getting off subject here? I believe there is another thread that discusses AOL et al. .. !

They did, and Bob Livingston got caught having an affair and resigned. Ensign did not. He's a hypocrite.

Sadanie, I brought up the AOL thing as a more real example of hypocrisy. Capitalism for me, but not for thee.

Yet another Republican so-called "family values" politician resigns in disgrace over less than family value activity.

Rep. Lee Resigns Following Craigslist Scandal : Roll Call
yet another epublican that admits to being a piece of shit,a nd not willing to drag his family and the country through th emess with him.

Pretty honorable thing in resigning, because face it.. he could have served and faced no real penalty.

I'm sick and tired of this stuff.

I've never cared about this crap. How is this guy's attempted cheating on his wife politically damaging to me or you?

If he wants to screw up his marriage, what business is it of mine or yours?

I always wish for us to be less repressed in North America, but as demonstrated even on this thread, I'm not holding my breath; just look at all the repressed conservatives and all their gay talk.

Personally, I've never thought for one split second in my life about what Barney Frank puts in his mouth, but apparently not macho conservative dudes at uspoliticsonline.

I think Lee should keep his job, first because I couldn't give a fuck what he's up to in his private life, and second because he's actually a horny straight Republican for a change and not a total anti-gay-but-really-I-like-to-play-footsies-or-do-drugs-n-screw-male-escorts hypocrite type.

I just love how a conservative congressman resigns in disgrace and some of the conservative members of the Forum are trying to redirect the issue to liberals. I can just imagine what their response would have been if it had have been a Democratic congressman. I guess hypocrisy isn't restricted to members of Congress....
I know. It would be like if every time a conservative found fault with Obama, a liberal would complain about Bush.

Jason, he resigned because he didn't want it to be a distraction, which it always is. Lee has a life outside of politics. Obviously, for a career politician, they have to fight and stay on no matter what the cost, as they have nothing other than the pursuit of power. Lee was a businessman and he'll go back to being a businessman.

How is it now less distracting for his family to have him sitting around the house all day, bored out of his mind?

Get back to work, I say.

Work has never failed to distract me from having distractions.

Newt cheated on his cancer-ridden wife and still went to work; the country didn't stop despite the Republicans best efforts to try to make it stop in the 90's when Clinton cheated and kept going to work.

What I hate is the moral platitude that people take on public figures. If any of us were to cheat on our partners, we would still go to our jobs even if they found out.

A relationship problem does not equal a job problem.

That's the thing, he has work outside of politics, outside the spotlight. Plus if he stayed he'd have to spend more time talking to the press and keep on picking at that scab. By resigning immediately, being that he's a fairly low-ranking Congressman, the media will lose interest in his story in a few days. If he stayed in office, they'd go looking for more skeletons.

Who cares about the media? I thought Republicans always scored easy points taking pot shots at the "lame stream" media anyway?

If this were Europe it wouldn't even be a story.

We concern ourselves too much with the personal foibles of politicians rather than how they are actually doing their jobs.

Now wait a doggone minute here!!!...if trolling for booty and sending "discreet" pics is good enough for Bret Favre then why the hell isn't it good enough for Chris Lee!

I will never understand how public figures think that they can get away with this stuff.
OK, we''ll go over this one more time. Bret la Favre is a PRO FOOTBALL PLAYER, he's expected to to be AND HOLDS HIMSELF UP AS a moral paragon about as much as the Emperor Caligula.

Chris Lee is a REPUBLICAN POLITICIAN. He runs for a party whose whole platform is based on their contention that America's problems, past and present, are based on our lack of sexual morals and restraint. He has based his entire career on the idea that he is more sexually moral and restrained than most of us and advocates daily that people who are not as moral as him should be punished severely or America will fall.

See the difference???

no the big deal was that clinton commited felonies to cover up his adultry.
had he not commitede mutiple felonies he would not have been impeached.
the only reason he was not removed from office was the dems all stood up and as a dem said the economy is good who cares if he commited a crime.
that is the way liberals think, they dont care about the constitution or the law as long as they get what they want.
had clinton just admited the affair when questioned under oath a lot less would have been made about it.

Love, it, you bitch, moan and whine when anyone brings up the poor administration of "W", and now have to go back 14 years to find a Dem to show comparison.
