Federal Law Minister Dr Babar Awan on Sunday demanded release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the US prison in place of Raymond Davis, who shot and killed two Pakistanis in Lahore. We will demand the release of Aafia Siddiqui if America demands release of Raymond Davis, the minister told a press conference here. Dr Aafia Siddiqui, 38, a highly educated Pakistani neurologist, is serving 86 years sentence in the US after being found guilty of shooting two US soldiers in Afghanistan. The case of US national Raymond Davis, who killed two Pakistanis in late January, has raised tensions between the two uneasy allies. The US says the gunman enjoys diplomatic immunity and should be released according to international law and custom. Awan, while taking to newsmen, said he was eyeing a spate of change in the Punjab province. He said the committee on convening Round Table Conference has been constituted and its members would soon meet political leadership of the country to convince them to join RTC for resolution of key national issues.
