The end of the world as we know it
Forget man-made threats – the catalyst for the apocalypse will come from outer space, warns astronomer Chris Impey Apocalyptic thought has a tradition that dates to the Persian prophet Zoroaster in the 14th century BC. Recently, anxiety has grown over the prediction of the end of the world in the Mayan calendar. It's true that the Mayan odometer will hit zeros on 21 December 2012, as it reaches the end of a 394-year cycle called a baktun. But this baktun is part of a larger 8,000-year cycle called a pictun, and there's no evidence that anything astronomically untoward will happen as the current baktun slides into the next. However, that hasn't stopped the feverish speculating that sells books and cinema tickets. What kind of catastrophe would it take to end the world? Astronomical intruders provide a potentially serious threat. Impacts can be caused by stray rubble from the Asteroid Belt and the rocky snowballs that travel in highly elliptical orbits in the comet cloud. There are many fewer large bits of debris than small bits, so the interval between large impacts is much longer than the interval between small impacts. The decay of protons heralds a final drawn-out phase of disintegration in the universe, as everything falls apart. After protons decay, there are no stable atoms, presenting a challenge for life.
The end of the world as we know it - Science, News - The Independent We need to figure out how to stop the protons from decaying. We should all be using Atomic Crest Pro-Health which reduces proton decay while promoting both the Up quarks and the Down quarks. Atomic Crest Pro-Health also has proton whitening and fights Neutronic bad breath. |

The sun is about to get a lot more active, which spells bad news for Earth's satellites, power grids, and other trappings of modern living.Bad news for gizmos
People of the 21st century rely on high-tech systems for the basics of daily life. But smart power grids, GPS navigation, air travel, financial services and emergency radio communications can all be knocked out by intense solar activity. A major solar storm could cause twenty times more economic damage than Hurricane Katrina, warned the National Academy of Sciences in a 2008 report, "Severe Space Weather Events—Societal and Economic Impacts."... No, none of the above or below as the case maybe. These solar storms will not follow convention. Here are the scenarios which top scientists at Acme Laboratories are forecasting:
Scenario A The solar wind sheer of these storms will be so strong that as the Earth is battered by them the Earth will slowly and then more quickly rotate in the opposite direction which will cause time to run backwards. Oddly enough scientists are saying that the BP Oil Spill will get worse so BP will launch satellites with large solar sails to make the interaction between the solar wind and the Earth's rotation operate more efficiently thus BP will avoid the lawsuits and drop in it's stock by time running backwards to before the Spill took place. However, BP will be using North Korean vehicles and they will plunge into the Pacific Ocean but first the sails will unfurl over Oahu. Which has the state very upset until the Earth starts rotating backwards and the rockets "land" safely in North Korea. Scenario B The Earth will be caught in a causality loop which will only last 30 min duration before repeating. Shortly before the loop begins warnings will go out across the media or delivered by trucks with loud speakers for people not to do or engage in boring activities since they could be doing them for a long time. The only hope to break the cycle seems to come from a plan put forward by the The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction. That is for every one on planet Earth to engage in sexual activity to quote: Move the Earth, unquote. While this plan has appeal there seem to be two problems. One, that there could be an enormous pollution boom all over the planet. The second problem comes from the "abstinence only" believers. Former Gov. Palin at a recent Tea Party convention said "That sex is not a tool for saving the planet, and never will be. The real solution is less government and fewer moose." Scenario C The storms will not start to rotate the planet backward but it will add "top spin" to the normal rotation of the Earth. While the Earth will continue to have latitude spin a longitudinal spin will be added. This will cause the sun to rise in a different point and sometimes set at the same point. For example: people in Rising Sun Maryland could watch the sun rise in the east but then as the longitudinal spin asserts itself during the day and Rising Sun finds itself inverted by 180 degrees (north to south) the sun could set in the east that "night" which might only last a few hours or a couple of days with the sun appearing over the horizon and setting again in minutes. Also, this would be the end of seasons in any meaningful definition of the word. Since in one day the northern hemisphere will invert with the southern hemisphere. Tides will also be effected but BP has a plan. Large solar sails launched on North Korean rockets. |
