Okay, the judge in this case, Judge Walker, has issued a temporary stay to hear all arguments before the ban is instituted. This makes sense in a couple of ways. There will be appeals and the judge wants to make sure his court has a good foundation before any appeal is heard in a superior court; also, if people were allowed to marry tomorrow, they may end up in limbo again next week should an appeals court issue a stay. This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. But, it's a great start!

A proud moment, and I hope when it makes it to the Supreme Court that politics don't take over. It would be like Dred Scott...
The report I saw this morning said it all. In preparation for the ruling, CNN's story had people representing the two main groups that argued the lawsuit. The Pro-Prop 8 person said they expected it to be overturned because this judge was all about the spotlight. The anti-8 people said it was because the other side couldn't prove their case, and even admitted such in the hearings. Sounds about par for the course for the pro-prop people: It's not about what's right and Constituationally moral. No, they had to shift blame and slander the judge. |

Yeah, one of the right-wing arguments tonight is that since the judge ruling the case is gay his ruling is a secret conspiracy to open the door for he himself to marry in California. As if he lobbied for the case. |

Really you are now equating being black with to those with defective reproduction practices? Good grief! |

This isn't fact, Paul. This is only your opinion. I sincerely doubt Dave would characterize homosexuals as "those with defective reproduction practices." You have, and that's your characterization, and what Paulie was calling hateful. I have to agree with him. |

Marriage is first and foremost about natural reproduction and the offspring produce. Marriage recognizes differences between men and women and recognizes that only when these dispirate entities are cojugally united can offspring be produced. This is not a Christian thing but is almost universal thing across cultures. It is a human thing. Homosexual activity is antithetical to natural sexual reproduction therefore it is antithetical to marriage.
