Default School Supplies and you
So this week, there have been at least a dozen 'groups'....come to me, and ask for money to buy 'needy kids', some of their school supplies.

School supplies? As in some kid doesn't have 3 dollars for a couple pencils and some notebook paper?

No no no ................See, each kid must have a backpack, a couple dozen different folders, special boxes for pencils, and various other supplies.

There have been several events, where the radio stations, or other groups, set up a remote, and take donations........I thought, how many fucking needy kids can there be? Why the fuck do they 'need' so much shit to go to school?

I'm already paying a fuckload extra in taxes because of school districts.......and you're telling me it's not enough?

I'm already paying taxes to fund teachers who can't educate kids........and you're telling me they need more?

Who makes up these 'lists', of 'needed' items?

So, instead of donating to the last group, I said we'd show up at the remote event, and hand deliver some supplies.

I went to the Family dollar store, and bought 4 backpacks, 4 20packs of pencils, 4 erasers, 4 boxes crayons-200 count, 4 boxes colored pencils, 4 stacks of notebook paper, 4 sets of 10 folders, 4 pencil boxes, 4 lunch boxes, 4 BIG ring binders, 4 boxes of red pens, 4 2packs of scissors, and several other items.

My total cost? 240 bucks.

And from the lists that the store had provided, showing what each grade would NEED for supplies......I didn't make a dent in it.

Now, it seems that 'poor' kids, get vouchers that may be redeemed at walmart or other places for supplies........'rich' kids, don't need vouchers.........that leaves this gap in the 'middle class', kids. Whose parents make just enough to keep them from the freebies.

And those parents, if they have 3 kids, are getting hit with a bill for about 600 dollars, in paper and pencil goods. That's gotta be rough on them.

WHY the fuck, are these union leeches we call 'teachers', so lacking in ability that they need to pass extra expense on to the parents of those they teach?

This is quite a fucking racket.

If you're a teacher.........You have lost all respect from me.

If you're a parent of 3-4 kids, and trying to send your kids to school........you have my prayers.

What gives with this shit?

So my friend who's a cop, with a wife going to nursing school........they have 5 kids.

I always thought he was full of shit, when he told me he'd spend about 3k each August, on clothes and supplies.

HOMESCHOOL FTW.

When I was in elementary school it was Pencils, blue pen and red pen, notebook, glue, scissors. May have been one or two other items but every year it was pretty much the same. No real change until junior high school.

No sir, we're not.

To even get 1/4 of the items on the list........it will run in excess of 60-75 dollars.

And that's getting the low end stuff.

I'm telling you........I've not really noticed this shit before.......maybe it's a local issue, but I don't think it is.

Next time you're in a store that posts those retarded 'school supply lists'..........read one, and do some math........it's brutal.

I feel for the 'middle class' parents out there.

IMO, I'm already paying money to these fuckers at the school.........even though I have no kids going to school.

And the 'helpful' groups out there, are going all over town begging money to buy even more.

It's really weird.

Yeah, we get those every year..

Backpack is the biggest cost.. But the plastic boxes and other stuff is dirt cheap.

It's probably 40 bucks..

Same here.

The new lists I saw were sorta radical though.

Of course, it's been a couple decades since I went to school.

I found backpacks for 10 bucks........they weren't what I'd call 'classy'. But they'd work. All those 1-3 dollar items added up in a fuckin' hurry though.

There were so many of them.........it really boggled me.

Have you checked lately?

It could me a regional thing......

I'll run downtown in a bit, and get a list.

It's pretty fucking extensive, IMO.

It's like congress wrote it.

That's 60 bucks.. Once a year..

It's not that bad. Most people spend more than that on movies.

omg........fucking 1%er.

DIE DIE DIE.

And, I didn't get everything on the list.......at all.

IMO, kids that need crayons, don't need colored pencils too. Seems like an age difference thing.
