Much of our current gripe with government is from its structure and the changes in policy that have been wrought over the decades since the UN Charter was ratified.
There is a string of UN treaties already in place, and yes, we do follow them.
Most of that loony environmental policy has its source in UN treaty and UN non-governmental organizations.
So don't try to blow that Progressive smoke up my ass that the UN has no sway in Devil City.

Didn't say it doesn't have sway. But we don't have too many treaties with them, and that will continue to be so. So settle the fuck down before you burst a blood vessel, or before I start calling you Philadelphian, Jr., you fucking conspiracy nut.

We don't actually implement too many of those. I'm not terribly worried about it.
You said what you said.
We implement every treaty we sign because treaties are considered the law of the land; which is pretty much about the only part of the Constitution that Devil City still holds sacred.
Those treaties are seen as a work-around to avoid the 'gridlock' of the amendment process.
Every weakness in the Constitution is being employed against us.
And you can't stop it.

Yes, I said what I said. And I am right. You should know that by now. It would make these little exchanges easier for you.

We came a little too close to being carbon enslaved for my liking..

Even some folks on "our side" thought this was a splendid idea..

THAT scares me..

True, but we didn't go over the cliff.

I hear guys like Friedman waxing from his perch at the NYT about how freedom really isn't important, as long as there's a debate! And an enlightened leadership could do wonders with China style central planning!!

And I laugh.. Our elites are far too corrupt and way too stupid to compete with the central planning pros running places like China..

This kind of arrogance persists, however.. It's just a matter of time before someone gets big ideas and tries to act on them.

I guess the most troubling part is I see a bunch of entities that have no use for freedom..

Corporations.. Banks.. Ins companies.. Government entities.. International entities..

Nobody seems to want this.. It's not in their interest.

This sort of crisis in capitalism helps the left make their case..

"See? See? This is unsustainable! You're all being sold out!!! WE need to lead, and level the playing field! Act in the common interest!!!"

And a lot of folks will probably believe that..

Nobody would send them a fucking dime if it weren't for all this extra-constitutional regulatory authority they're hoping to purchase.. (Rent, really)

The executive wouldn't be in a position to wake up one day, stretch himself and decide to bury to coal industry.. Because he wouldn't be able to.

But you'll NEVER convince people that we'd be better off without the DOE.. Or that the EPA should be gutted and turned into a statistics clearinghouse..

Yeah.. That little homo sits there and rants about how him and his dinner pals could make the world perfect, if only we had a chi-commie system of top down control..

It's too bad we can't export him to the chi-coms.. Force them to put him in power and let him run things.

That would be sit-com worthy.

"What's Tom fucking up today?" at 9 eastern..

So you've just got to find a way to get into power and do it, just like they did.
