Default The Real Class Warfare is Baby Boomers Vs. Younger Americans
http://reason.com/archives/2012/07/1...y-boomers-vs-y

"Take a break from getting yet another tattoo on your ass bone or your nipples pierced already! And STFU about the 1 Percent vs. the 99 Percent!

You're not getting screwed by billionaires and plutocrats. You're getting screwed by Mom and Dad.

Systematically and in all sorts of ways. Old people are doing everything possible to rob you of your money, your future, your dignity, and your freedom."

Thats probably the dumbest thing you have ever posted, Jes.

you are getting robbed by seniors???????? how about welfare cheats, how about the SEIU, how about a government that has no idea where our money is going, how about a president who sends jobs to china and mexico, how about a government that allows illegal entry into our country and then gives them free benefits and medical care, how about a senate that has not even voted on a budget for over 3 years, how about a congress that makes itself exempt from laws it passes on us.

I could go on for several pages, but maybe you get the idea. you govt is robbing you, not your parents----but I am sure they are proud of you for saying that about them.

This chart just shows that 25 years of inflation raised the net worth of people who had money for the entire 25 years. It also shows that incomes did not keep pace with inflation. And somehow you want to blame that on seniors??????????

It's an inflation adjusted chart, Rocat.

Inflation has specifically been taken out of the equation.

So, what you said, uh, no...

Ok by me. just give me back every penney I paid in plus compounded interest. SS and medicare are ponzi schemes which were badly managed by criminals. The real problem is not the IDEA, its the crooks that managed it.

It does not say it was inflation adjusted, but if it is what conclusion do your draw from it?

what I see is that older people saved their money during their working years and now have it for retirement, whereas younger people are spending everything they make plus going into debt for crap that they just "need"

Now, the reason that SS was created was because so many elderly people were too old too work, and destitute.

But that is no longer the case. In fact, the elderly are the wealthiest Americans today.

So, the problem's been fixed! We can end the program, now, right?!?!?

No. You had your chance to get rid of it when you were young.

Sorry about your luck.

I have no issue with ending it. I can make it just fine without SS. But many others can't. those numbers in your chart are averages, you do know what average means don't you?

The Ryan budget does gradually phase out SS and make it voluntary for younger workers. If you think congress will just pass a bill saying as of 1/1/2014 social security is over, you are dreaming.

get rid of what? SS or my money? During my entire working life I lived on 75-80% of what I took home. Now I have a very nice portfolio that produces a very comfortable standard of living without ever touching the principle.

You can do that too, if you dicipline yourself.

Of course not. Have to educate the voters, first.

The elderly are waging war on the young. It's time we educated the young, let them see what is being done to them. I have no illusions that the Boomers, as a whole, will ever get their shit together. They are one fucked-up generation. Selfish and self-centered beyond compare...

I have no money problems, Rocat. I'm good.

You should have gotten rid of SS, when you were young. Could have saved yourself some cash, and the nation a boatload of troubles...
