Example: Radical Environmentalism..
We know that Wall Street and other business interests stand to make a fortune here.. Al Gore hoped to become the world's first carbon billionaire. We know that wealthy energy companies and interests positioned themselves as rent seekers in the world of new, higher cost electricity. They even wanted to re-distribute these carbon credits globally, thereby taxing first world countries to finance infrastructure in third world countries. There's a lot of money in many of their causes if you're positioned properly. They claim to hate folks like Mitt and Bain Capital, but who do they think would profit from such a thing the most? I know the foot soldiers are sincere in their beliefs.. But those at the top? I think it's about the money. I've found that following the money will explain nearly anything in politics.. I think it's true here also. Can you think of other examples? |
