NBC edits Romney rally speech to portray candidate as out of touch

NBC edits http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/shitt.gif rally speech to portray candidate as out of touch
NBC is taking heat again for selective editing a day after presenting video of Mitt http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/shitt.gif seemingly awestruck by the process of ordering a sandwich at a convenience store.

During an afternoon broadcast of "Andrea Mitchell Reports," video of the GOP presidential candidate seemed to show a politician out of touch as he discussed ordering a hoagie at Wawa.

The video clip went viral after the blogsite SooperMexican.com pointed out in a post that it appeared doctored.

I manage the group that designs similar products for the hospitality, convenience, and entertainment industries, and I find them fucking amazing.

The systems that make it easier for customers to order and stores to keep track of the orders, not the sandwiches. High tech stuff. Innovation abounds. Boats and hos. Big data, log management, remote connection tools, security applications, the whole nine yards. If you've got a store that takes money, we have the technology to make you more efficient.

This used to involve passing paper tickets around and silly shit like that..

You ran the error % up with every hand in the chain.. It just makes sense to print the orders up directly before the people making them.

And as a great addition, everything is collected in databases to help with product selection. You couldn't do that with paper tickets unless somebody was entering that shit by hand.

Hell, our warehouse system, and this is waaaaay back, could monitor stocking levels, send re-order info up to the buyer.. In a restaurant, you could tune those for FIFO purposes too. Instant reports.. Instant food costs, labor and margins. Instant re-order info... Trends to set stocking levels on particular days..

It'd really take a lot of the hard work out of being a manager.

Frankly, the people who try to play this meme about http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/shitt.gif being out of touch, who take this kind of technology for granted, come across as the real assholes. The stuff we're coming out with is revolutionary. These MSNBC types don't understand the technology and pretend that it's been around forever. The whole story is false on so many levels and their snark makes me hate them even more. I work with the stuff every day and I am still amazed by it. I'd be flattered to know that a presidential candidate was impressed with the fruits of my labor.

Lot to do in a busy restaurant..

Their nigger is failing and they're trying to help him any way they can..

It's an absolutely bottom tier effort at smearing him.

Yeah, that database kind of stuff has been in use for a good while. Things are getting even better now with better internet connections and more data storage space. The computers are getting faster and smarter and the software is getting more powerful and easier to use. There is so much opportunity in these fields. If you can make something that makes somebody else's job easier, allowing them to be more productive, you can do well.

Our stuff was custom.. Owners brother was a coder.

Nobody had anything like it at the time..

It really made us more productive.. and profitable.

Made us the best managed chain of its type. So good, in fact, it ended up as a franchise. Private equity looked at everyone doing this, chose us and just bought it all up..

Every store.. Every asset.. Everything.

enteltcheft 06-20-2012 05:20 AM

It was so old.. At the end of the night, you'd close out systems and the computer would use PKZIP to zip the database files up, then all the computers would call the warehouse computer and transfer the files, blow them up, and the WH computers would rezip them, phone the home office and transfer it all up there.

It was fucking neat for the time.

Fruriourl 06-20-2012 05:20 AM

Now you can do it all in real time.. But shit, the internet was a new thing then..

This stuff didn't exist.. So, they made it.

Tnzxovoz 06-20-2012 05:22 AM

I did some tech work at the stores I managed.. I'm wanting to say the modems were 1200 baud..

We "upgraded" to 14.4 on the new systems later..

Damn, that shit was fast! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/lol.gif

RastusuadegeFrimoum 06-20-2012 05:23 AM

They'd come in the next morning at the hope office.. the President has the sales.. The accountant has the taxes.. The buyer has the stocking levels and the distribution..

It was perfect..

Adimonnna 06-20-2012 05:25 AM

They knew right down to the penny how much should be deposited in every account.. And how much in checks, cash and credit.

The time clock was in there too.. So all the labor was in and they could see it. Instant margins.

Nobody had this stuff then.. I bet there were banks that weren't set up as well as we were.

sciectotacype17 06-20-2012 05:26 AM

All ran on MS Dos.

That's pretty cool. They have lots of standard solutions now that you can do some customization with. It's definitely easier to handle now that it's real time with a better connection. But, when it was a choice between paper/floppy disks and using the brand new internet to make your job easier, it is a no brainer. ERP and MRP systems today can help with almost all of the departments in a company, with the warehouse only being a small part. We've got all kinds of crazy shit on our network that makes it easy to communicate with people inside and outside of the company. We've even got our own internal social network and corporate university (it's full of short classes on various skills like project management and business-related soft skills). We've come a long way since when I worked for a cash register sales company shortly after leaving the Navy.
