I think the lack of loyalty to a party from those of like idealogy is what makes elected officials ineffective at times. If your party is about not rewarding lazy fuckism and niggers and they are anti baby killer then you stay united in the spirit of such.

I used to be a registered Democrat, then I switched to the Republican party earlier this year. Now, I'm thinking of becoming Independent. Outside of Ron Paul, none of the other GOP guys impress me.

Shit! Almost.
I didn't know whether you were a Democrat or not.
It was a primary, after all.

I voted for the person least able to beat you in the general election: Obama.

The problem I have is MY PARTY doesn't want to affiliate with me till election time.. And I'm getting a little sick of it.

I don't have time for flighty relationships like this..
That's why you have to become more involved at a local level.
Well, ideally.
But I found out that doesn't always work.

Just because you said "that's stupid."

Sort of like here.

I'm a registered Republican and tend to vote for that candidate but I have been known to cross party lines on more than one occasion. I vote (R) primarily because they more closely share my values and wants. Not always though, and there have been good (D)s in my lifetime, like Zell Miller who I would have voted for had I lived in his state. I also like Joe Manchin.

You are 100% correct, Klein. So what is the alternative? A person unaffilliated with any party won't get far in an election. Do you really think this country is prepared for no-party elections?

That's why people have to be more actively involved in the parties that do exist.
The Tea Party hooked up with Republicans and managed to effect some policy issues.
Not that I agree with them, but that's how you do it.

OWS just messed up. They lost their message in partying and being overly 'democratic' - so much so that there was not real leadership and no real message. I think the issue of campaign finance reform would resonate with all parties involved, but until there is some sort of peace pipe smoked, elections will go to the candidate who raises the most money.

Really stupid.

They aren't REALLY INTERESTED in that.. They want what the national guys tell them they want and that's pretty much it..

All they want me to do is donate, shut up and vote for them.. Which isn't enough, I'm afraid.

The OWS people were chasing their tails with nothing positive. I agree that people need to be involved. I've been involved in elections for the last 10 years or so to varying degrees. If I at least try to do something, I feel better about myself. Sitting back and complaining while not attempting to do anything is too common.

In fact, I was just informed the party is "moderating itself" this election to attract "Younger voters"

I have an email in to the State district reps and the chair and vice chair over it.. So, I may not be voting GOP at all this time around.

I know what they're counting on.. They think they can begin to do all the liberal shit they want because hatred for Barry will keep the base together anyway..

And they're probably right about that.. But it won't include me..

It's more than that.. They're talking about the platform itself.

I can understand them backing the presumptive nominee.. I get that. I wouldn't leave over that.

Now, fucking around with the planks.. That's a different matter.
