It's amazing to me to meet so many people who don't understand taxes and regulation.. We're awash with them.
Here's the way it works: Taxes are always paid by people. You can't tax a corporation or an industry.. You may compel them to write a check, but the money comes from people.. The end user, typically.. A tax burden will fall on one of three parties: 1) The end user. (The customer.) 2) Employees of the company or industry you are taxing. (They may pay for this by not getting a raise, or having their benefits or hours cut. Perhaps by being fired, or never hired in the first place?) 3) The Owners of capital.. (Could be you, via your 401K. This depresses economic activity.) And it's generally the end user you end up punishing the most. Businesses pass all costs along the line to people. Including taxes. Why would you want to do that? You collect a big check by taxing WalMart, but in reality, everyone who shops there paid for it. Their employees paid for it. Similarly, Regulations are merely hidden taxes. We obviously need some base level of regulation.. So this can't be avoided completely, but for every regulation on business there is a compliance cost which is passed along as a cost of production to one of the three parties above. So when you regulate, what you're actually doing is taxing society.. As there's a cost involved that is simply passed along in some form. Government.. Government produces nothing. Business and industry produce everything. If you think this isn't true.. Imagine a baker and a cop. You tax the baker to pay the cop's salary. The cop has a job because of the baker, and the cop provides a safe environment for the baker to peddle his wares.. Now, imagine what happens if the baker, who is the producer in this scenario, goes out of business.. If that happens, the cop goes with him. These simple things are the reason why utopian, liberal schemes fail to provide robust economic growth and prosperity.. Liberals have no appreciation for economic basics and cannot ever be trusted to manage anything efficiently as a result. They are like little children.. They just know that they see and they want.. And that's about it. Conservatives (Real ones, anyway) understand these simple concepts that underpin the entire economy, so we can look at a stupid liberal scheme and tell you in two seconds that it will fail. It's not because we're psychic, it's because you're stupid and you lack critical thinking skills. Questions? |

We need some regulations, but obviously.. You never want any more than you absolutely need. Because they are really a tax on society.. Not industry. |

The cost is placed on society, either way. They're like the guys who scratch their pointy heads and say: "Well, we need 10 more billion dollars to waste here.. So, if we just raise taxes by 10 billion, then our budget will balance" Then they don't get 10 Billion.. And they're confused.. It's because they're stupid and child like and can't be trusted to manage adult things. |

You either pay a bit more for products that aren't poisonous, or you pay it in medical costs. |

Polluters should be fined, if they include the fines in the prices of their products they will not be competitive and will go out of business. its not complicated Unnecessary regulations are to be avoided at all costs. |

yes, but we do need regulations punishing those that put poison into our rivers, lakes, and ground water. |
