In Nothing We Trust

In Nothing We Trust
Americans are losing faith in the institutions that made this country great.

"It’s a fairly common practice,” he says. “Citi doesn’t want any liability should anybody get hurt on the property.”

“So I’m liable for a house I don’t live in or own?” Whitmire sputters.

Yes, Quirk says.

There is no reason for any of this..

Direct Democracy would be better than being lorded over by the two ships of fools who trade hats once every few years.

This is a messed up article.

I don't disagree with your above post.....but this guy, is hardly a model for a good citizen.

Then, in the fall of 2010, his partially disabled wife lost her state job. “Governor [Mitch] Daniels slashed the budget, and they looked for any excuse to squeeze people out,”

A state job......IE Taxpayers paying her to do what? Since she was 'disabled'......which could be anything from paralyzed to a drug addict.......she was likely doing some manufactured/created job....like answering a phone to some department.....
Whitmire says. “We got lost in that shuffle—cut adrift.” The Whitmires couldn’t make their payments anymore. Lost in WHAT shuffle? What guy can't make a 600 a month payment to keep his fucking house??
They applied for a trial loan-modification through an Obama administration program, and when it was granted, their monthly bill fell to $473.87. But, like nearly a million others, the modification was canceled. Hey, look Mr. Banker.......I know we HAD a deal......but Obama says I can say fuck you.....I'm NOT going to pay you what I agreed to, because I simply can't earn 600 dollars per month!! Neiner Neiner @ U bank!!!!!!
Whitmire didn’t have that kind of cash and couldn’t get it, so he and his wife filed for bankruptcy. His attorney advised him to live in the house until the bank foreclosed, but “I don’t believe in a free lunch,” Whitmire says "I don't believe in a free lunch!!!! Which is why I look for the government to save me, after I lose my wife's income that comes from taxpayers money........then I file for bankruptcy"
Wtf? Really?
He is among a group of voters most skeptical of President Obama: noncollege-educated white males. He feels betrayed—not just by Obama, who won his vote in 2008, but by the institutions that were supposed to protect him Suck it up son......take your medicine.

All I have to say to him.

He feels betrayed—not just by Obama, who won his vote in 2008, but by the institutions that were supposed to protect him: his state, which laid off his wife; his government in Washington, which couldn’t rescue homeowners who had played by the rules

He didn't play by the rules....he borrowed what he couldn't pay back.

Simple answer to this? PAY YOUR BILLS.

GEAntonio 04-22-2012 02:31 AM

He and his wife are still unemployed. He is no longer eligible for the federal mortgage-relief program. He is bankrupt. His credit is destroyed. And he’s living in a trailer, with no expectation of rejoining the middle class. He has been buffeted, again and again, by forces that never had his interests at heart. *Sigh*

I think this guy is really missing the point here.....

Derrida 04-22-2012 02:32 AM

He behaved honorably.. He lost his job and she lost hers..

Seriously?

Even a low paying job would have let him make his monthly payment? Unless he had LOTS of other bills........

I dunno his situation.. I know that that region has been hit hard.

He even gave they keys back when they advised him to remain in the house through bankruptcy.. Said it wasn't right.

I respect that.

It's impractical. The entire nation grinds to a halt.

Size is a factor. It could work in ancient Greece, but not in a country of 300m+.

We're been at a halt for years now..

MP+4 04-22-2012 03:04 AM

Yeah, that "I don't believe in a free lunch,"
and then EXPECTING a free lunch, didn't sit well with me, either.

I DO, however, think they got screwed on the back payment ~ that amount should have been folded back into the loan.

Actually ...

Mortgage = $620
Utilities = $300
Vehicle Ins = $50
Food = $500
------------------
Total = $1470/mo / $17,600/yr

Minimum wage = $7.25 = $1255/mo / $15,080/yr

And that budget isn't very realistic ~

Mediconlinee 04-22-2012 03:12 AM

FIRE THS ROTTEN CONGRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's at the LOWEST possible end.

And that's enough to cover the loan.

If not....then eat rice and beans for 50 bucks a month....till you can afford better.

forebirdo 04-22-2012 03:27 AM

It's not really about him, it's kind of everything..

There's a lot more in the article than just his story.

It's a good article. I agreed with that. There's some good info in there, and a lot that I agree with.

This guy though.....sorta irks me.

MIBgirlsXXL 04-22-2012 03:32 AM

He strikes me like the typical American guy with his head up his ass..

He trusts government, etc.. He's incurious.. Doesn't follow politics.. But, generally a good guy.

Bet he's paying attention now.

goatteatromiag 04-22-2012 03:33 AM

not just by Obama, who won his vote in 2008 For this reason, I feel zero sympathy for this cunt.

That's a good assessment.

"Obama gonna pay my rent!!!!! He gonna fix the world!"

*some time passes*

"On noes!!!!! things ain't working out!"

Typical. Head up arse.

Maybe I'm becoming jaded.

TOOGUEITEME 04-22-2012 03:36 AM

The country is filled with guys like this.. he's just incurious.

Unlike the libs, who are outright malicious.

We wouldn't be in this mess if more people paid attention to their surroundings than "The Game" or whatever nonsense occupies their time.

These are the guys who only notice when things get bad, bad.. Then.. Suddenly..

OMG! THERE'S A CRISIS!!

No shit, Sherlock? Really?
