The libs are going to get National Healthcare..

If the SC upholds Obamacare as "constitutional" They're going to get their National Healthcare Service...

The first thing that happens is a gigantic entitlement to the poor.. Thy get free healthcare.

Then, you have an increasing number of older people receiving some of the most expensive medical care on the face of the planet, and this burden is, realistically, shifted to the young.. As they're paying for their entire lives as opposed to a portion, and it will be decades before they will make the most use of the care they are paying for.. This will be good for the boomers, the X-ers and not generation Y. However, the demographics of Generation Y will make it attractive to the same people who never seem to recognize a Ponzi scheme.. Even when they are directly in the middle of one.

The problem comes in when costs aren't contained.. and they won't be at all. In any way. Between the mandate and minimum coverage requirements (Which are in place to soak the young, and shift the burden of care for older Americans onto their shoulders) all market based controls are severed. Cost containment becomes an impossibility... The only thing left will be edicts from DC, and that's not enough. (They're doing such a great job with Medicare, aren't they?)

The problem will continue till healthcare becomes a major economic burden. You'll never repeal it. It will lead to untold intrusion into our private lives.. The poor will never give up their free care.. The insurance companies will warn of collapse. The providers of medical services will warn that they will not be able to keep their doors open if the system is reverted. You will have people working part time to avoid triggering the mandate.. which will become the ultimate in tax bracket creep.

At such a point where the economic burden is too great.. All that's required to implement universal care is to simply extend the "free" care the already poor receive to all.. and create a mechanism (tax) to fund it. And, by that point, a bunch of people will welcome the change. It will, in all likelihood, be sold as cheaper than the insurance they are currently forced to purchase... And, at that point, this may even be the truth..

But once it takes hold, you cannot repeal it.. You cannot revert it.. It will become politically impossible. The logical next step is the creation of a National Health Service.

The odd person out in this scenario could end up being one of Obamacare's strongest supporters.. Big Insurance.

Doctors and medical personnel will always be required to administer treatment. Pharma is safe, because medicine revolves more around drugs than at any point in history.. This is a trend that isn't going away.. But what about Insurance? While they could be accommodated in a national health care scheme, there's no compelling reason to do so.. Who needs it when the funding and disbursement mechanism is federally controlled?

I can't see anything good coming from this.

WE'LL ALL BE WARDS OF THE STATE, FOR LIFE.

THE YOUNG WILL BE INDENTURED TO THE OLD.

THE STATE WILL GROW HUGE AND FAT, AND

NO ORIFICE, ANYWHERE, WILL GO UN-PROBED.

YES, CULLING WILL OCCUR.

NO, HEALTHCARE WILL NOT IMPROVE, FOR ANYONE.

WHAT LITTLE INCENTIVE TO WORK AND OTHERWISE BE

PRODUCTIVE IS LEFT WILL BE LARGELY STRIPPED AWAY.

There isn't anything good about it.. It's a terrible idea..

Which is precisely why I suspect they will try it.

Yeah.. It's gonna fail and be replaced with a completely federalized system.. Which will punish everyone.. Doctors included.

WE'D BETTER STOP IT, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

It is a terrible. Who's going to pay for it? Why would anyone want to start a business or go to medical school?

You are 100% correct.
Not only that, if it is upheld, the then relevant Tea Party made this worse than it had to be. Had they not fought the public option tooth and nail, the market based heath insurance system would have gotten off virtually scott free and unchanged. It would have been nothing more than an expansion of medicare and medicaid which already exist, and no one between the ages of 26 and 50 who are gainfully employed would have ever noticed a difference, the existing medicaid and medicare parasites would have carried on as usual.
Instead, we are either stuck with Obamacare as written, or a certain drift to socialist healthcare

Don't be fooled, Doctors are begging for a single pay system. It's a money pit

No, Plastic Surgery is a money pit. If you can pay for it fine if it's up to the government you get paid shit.

You said "Why would anyone go to medical school?"
Under a single payer plan, 50 million new potential customers whose payment is guaranteed by the strength and faith of the US government/Taxpayer?
Who Wouldn't want to?
No need for a staff to do billing, no haggling with HMOs, it's a doctor's utopia

Where is all this magic money going to come from ?

Where the hell do you think it is going to come from? Where does the money come from to pay for the welfare leaches collecting medicare and medicaid now? From the pockets of those of us who work for a living, pay our bills and have no desire to leach off the Government. Like I said, we would have been better off with a public option and the rest of us paying our own way as always, there would have been fewer mouths to feed.

Here's and idea..... Don't comply with the mandate and be assessed the penalty and then don't pay the penalty....

there is no penalty for not paying the penalty.

Then only buy the insurance while you're on the way to the hospital or doctor's office.

Then after you're all better, drop the insurance and do it all over again.

That is the only way taxpayers will have lower health care costs with OWEblmaerCare!
That's going to change.. It's a tax and, before it is over, someone is going to be tossed in jail for not paying it..

Market based insurance can't compete with a "public option" that isn't required to show a profit..

Instead, we are either stuck with Obamacare as written, or a certain drift to socialist healthcare Yeah, we may well be.. and it's going to be bad for everyone eventually..

But, it's also going to be a third rail. People are sick of being fucked over by the high cost of insurance and education.. They're not going to permit it to be reverted once it's implemented.

Lets get real for a moment shall we? If people can afford health insurance, they are going to buy it, and that will be the case in the high 90 percentile. There may be a few hard core rebels out there who will stand on principle, but you will be able to fit them in a tool shed. The mandate has been a red herring from the start, and I still believe it is a decoy provision to draw fire while the rest of the law moves forward. Obama is dumb, like a fox

The feminists are happy.

Everyone should go on disability, food stamps and any other type of entitlements you can possibly get and together we can financially destroy this fucked up mess of a "country".

(CNSNews.com) -- Feminists and “reproductive rights” activists lauded the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) for “advancing women” and providing “near universal access” to family planning products and services, including contraception.

“If the Affordable Care Act is fully implemented and we can, indeed, keep Title X funded, and Medicaid indeed can be saved, we will have achieved near universal access to family planning, birth control, contraception in the United States,” Kathy Bonk, president of Communications Consortium Media Center said at the Feminist Majority Foundation’s “Women, Money and Power” summit on Thursday in Washington, D.C.

Title X is the federal government’s family planning program that funds health care providers, including millions of dollars in grants each year to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Bonk was one of a number of feminists who spoke on a “Bishops, Politicians, and the War on Women’s Health” panel. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/femi...y-planning-and

I suspect a number of Republicans secretly support this.. It was a "conservative" idea from the onset.. It has been implemented by a Republican Governor..

They are all thralls to big insurance..

That's because they're stupid.. Stupid people are always happy.

Everyone should go on disability, food stamps and any other type of entitlements you can possibly get ... Uh, that's going to happen.. It's a very likely outcome.

Imagine doing the math on a college education and a career which will effectively makes you the funding mechanism for all of this, VS a lower paying, non-college job and benefits?
