Default CAN MUNICIPALITIES SUB-OUT POLICE/FIRE-FIGHTER SERVICES AND REDUCE COST...?
I'm sure there are legal obstacles but imagine contracting Police and Fire-Protection and saving on pensions, benefits etc.... I can see it....

Elected sheriff with a modest budget to check ambitions and a volunteer fire department run on donations and event proceeds.
The police are just a standing army for the MIC and paid fire fighters and police are a pension sinkhole.

Where I live, fire departments are volunteer organizations. They survive on donations from the community and the volunteer firefighters aren't paid at all.

So, can struggling Cities abandon the traditional model of Unionized Police and FireFighters with gobs of benefits and a pension totally out of sync with reality.

There are little, trailer towns around here whose entire police force is composed of Houston PD that fucked up and have to spend their time in Purgatory before they get their wings back. I've heard they're less than enthusiastic about protecting and serving for red necks.

TommyB7973 - So when you call 9-11 you get to press 1 for Engrish, etc...

.: - STFU n00b. You're a dumbass.

TommyB7973 - I think you're mistaken but I could be wrong.

If I was staking you, you'd know it, for a brief moment.

And they typically do good work. Ours are funded through donations and property taxes. They are unpaid but the equipment is expensive and they need training.
