Overcoming dems with a liberal Republican is meaningless. If the Republican Party had a REAL Conservative candidate, you would be excited by him, we would be excited by him, the rest of America would be excited by him and he would destroy Obama in a landslide!!

's not him.
Maybe not, but if we can't get the perfect candidate we can get obama out of power. we will never have the perfect candidate, so we always end up voting against someone--------I am voting against Obama.

You said it was campaign rhetoric, that makes all of it questionable. Unless you think that politicians always tell the truth about their opponents.

Which part do you take issue with?

Sounds like you, like Hoffa, are giving up and throwing in the towel.
I never said any of this.. Where did you get it?

I said the current direction of the party is a loser.. Any reading comprehension issues are your own.

I have been supporting the only limited gov't, liberty defending candidate in the race. And yes, I believe the people CAN do it. They CAN elect true conservatives and libertarians to office. But YOU throw in the towel, and say it can't be done. YOU!!!

You are the one who has given up on the fundamental principles of conservatism. You are no conservative, my friend. Not even close. So please spare me this rhetoric about giving up. Giving up is dropping your pants for Guy Smiley, and saying, "yes sir, may I have some more?"

I am an issues voter. If you want to discuss issues, fine. But I couldn't give two shits about political parties, or irrational fear of the mulatto. It doesn't do anything for me. So save it for somebody else.
I hear ya, but you have hitched your wagon to a lame old horse. He can't pull it up the hill or even down the hill.

How about an ISSUE to remove the current traitor who occupies the whitehouse? Thats my ISSUE.

Ultimately, money is the problem..

I sometimes wonder if we pay them enough.. I know it seems counter intuitive, but.. good governance would be worth almost any price.

It's the Monarch theory.
I know. I was thinking about doing a poll thread where the options are no pay, where only passionate volunteers might run, vs massive salaries, to put them beyond bribes.

I tend toward the massive salaries. It would be far cheaper to pay a million per rep, than to pay for all the shenanigans that the lobbyist bribes cost us.

When you say the GOP is lost and there is no way to stop the liberal movement, that sounds like giving up.

If not, what is it?

It's not an issue. It's born of irrational fear and a willingness to obey your handlers in the conservative media. I'm not interested in it.

I tend toward the massive salaries. Me too.. Because zero salary excludes all but the very wealthy from serving.

Uh, show me where I said that..

I don't feel like repeating a complex concept again.. I've typed it all out several times already..

GOOD GOVERNANCE WOULD CONSIST OF CITIZEN LEGISLATORS...

SHORT-TERMERS... WHO SPENT THE GREATER BALANCE OF THEIR LIVES

OUT OF GOVERNMENT ...AND PAID THE TAXES THEY LEVIED, IF ANY, AND

LIVED UNDER ANY AND ALL LAWS THEY CREATED.

I think if we paid them nothing we'd be better off. Only then would citizens who really care about the Republic serve. 2 year terms, expenses covered, then go back to the farm.

GIVEN THAT A LEGISLATOR OUGHT TO BE A MATURE AND

EXPERIENCED PERSON OF AT LEAST ORDINARY MEANS,

A SALARY OF $100 K IS FULLY ADEQUATE.

NO BENEFITS.

NO SPECIAL TAX EXEMPTIONS.

One way or the other would be better than the current situation, is how I see it. But I tend toward huge salaries, to stave off bribery, and to possibly direct really talented people into politics.

GIVEN THE COMFORT, SPEED, AND EFFICEINCY OF MODERN TRANSPORT,

I SEE NO REASON FOR A LEGISLATOR NOT TO MAINTAIN A PERMANENT

RESIDENCE IN HIS DISTRICT, RATHER THAN IN WASHINGTON.

LET THEM TRAVEL TO THE CAPITOL ON THOSE OCCASIONS WHEN

THE BUSINESS OF CONGRESS REQUIRES IT...AND MAINTAIN

THEIR HOMES ELSEWHERE... AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE.
