That's true. There was the second vote. That time, 45 Democrats and 1 Independent voted for the NDAA.

So once again, the Republicans could have blocked it.

Ron Paul's plan is to cut $1 trillion out of the budget in his first year. And to reduce spending to 15% of GDP and balance the budget by the year 2015.

Mitt 's plan is to cut $27 billion out of the budget in his first year. And to cap spending at 20% of GDP. He supports the Ryan Plan, which achieves a balanced budget in 2040.

Who cares what Paul says his plans are? It's irrelevant ... as he is not going to get the nomination.

You're missing the point. I don't expect Obama or the Democrats to protect my liberty.

I do expect the GOP to protect my liberty.

And, the Senate vote would override a veto, and the House vote was 7 short of an override, with 14 members not voting.
Now all of a sudden you care about the GOP? I thought you didn't give a shit about the GOP? Make up your mind.

Both houses of Congress passed the bill with a 67% majority.

So no one had any veto power over the bill.

Bottom Line: the GOP owns the NDAA.

All we do is go around in circles. I was called out this morning for using liberal websites to denigrate 's plan. So I did the research myself, and posted this info.

And not one of them has responded to it.

Nobody cares that 's plan only cuts 0.7% out of the federal budget, at a time when 18.5% of that budget is borrowed money.

Yes, he did have veto power and could have used it ... making them override his veto by having to pass the exact same bill again with a 2/3 majority.

True. But they did pass it with 2/3rds in the first place. The Senate passed it at 86%, and the House at exactly 67%.

Republicans could have killed the bill in either house. They did not.

Very true, but that's not the conversation we're having.

What will Obama do? What would tea party control of congress do?
at least as much as they did to prevent the passage of the ndaa.
last time I checked the dems controlled the senate and the tea party was a small portion of the house. Whats your point?
ah, the dems passed ndaa. fascinating.
This is the exchange that led us here. Quite far off the beaten path of the OP. When confronted with 's dismal plan, Rocat invoked the Tea Party and Obama, rather than face the facts of 's incredible similarity to Obama when it comes to fiscal discipline.
