Apparently you ignored my post Towlie. For those that 20.00 is a lot of money, they're most likely collecting at least food stamps. In order to receive food stamps YOU HAVE TO SHOW A PICTURE ID, AND RE- CERTIFY EVERY 6 MONTHS. So to use the "they're too poor" excuse is out the damn door.

If they're working they also had to shown some form of valid photo ID as well....those pesky I-9's.
You're assuming that everyone who is poor is on food stamps. That's an inaccurate assumption. There's also the transportation issue which is a valid concern. Not everyone has a car or an extra $20 for cab fare. Also, what if the person works 8-5 and has no paid time off to get an ID made up?

That's no reason because ID's don't have to cost $20 and democrats have been hauling busloads of people to voting polls for free for decades.
The polls, yes. They don't bus them to the DMV to have ID's made, though.

That's just an excuse and not a reason. I've conducted a great deal of personal business during my lunch breaks. Me, too. I have a vehicle. Perhaps you were unaware, but not everyone has a car.

This whole thing is a left wing attempt to find ways to stuff the ballot boxes, because they know they cannot win a fair election.
When you don't understand the real reasons, lies like this will fill in the gaps for you.

You have to show ID to cash a check, or buy cigarettes in most states.
Not everyone smokes and you can always endorse a check over to a friend and have them cash it. Happens all the time.

It's a telling fact that only liberals object to voter ID laws. I don't object to voter ID laws. I'm just explaining why others do object.

But these are things less important than voting that you need to show ID to do!! That's the point not if you have to do it to live!
Hey, bro, I'm just explaining why some are against it. You can believe me or not. Obtaining an ID is a pain in the ass and is one of the reasons why some people don't bother voting at all.

But state ID's are very easy to obtain. EVERYONE needs a photo ID to collect any kind of welfare, including food stamps and Social Security. YOU HAVE TO SHOW SOME FORM OF PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO COLLECT THOSE BENEFITS.( along withe a birth certificate)PERIOD. So there goes that theory out the window.

Is that all ya got?
That's interesting to know now. When I worked in a Welfare to Work program, many of my clients didn't have photo ID's.
That was an issue for some of them - especially those who wanted to take the GED test, as that requires a photo ID. Some training programs required them too.

On reading the rest of the thread,I realized that there was also an issue of Welfare clients being able to cash their transportation checks because they didn't have a photo ID.

Agreed, there is no reason to not require a photo id to vote. I'm sure you heard of the Ct. gov who wants to give illegals the right to vote, that is another ploy by the left to garner votes. Once you add those to the dead people who vote democrap then it's a whole new ball game. I guess they figure that since we have a nigger president who doesn't have to show his BC then a lack of Id is a minor problem with the libtards.
Right, the Republicans just have the Supreme Court do their bidding in elections.

I would assume that some people mistake it for invasion of privacy. Or that it somehow undermines the secrecy of the ballot.

It can't undermine the secrecy of the ballot because you have to sign in "the book" every time you vote and you get a numbered ticket (at least where I live). There is no guarantee that somewhere in the software of these new-fangled electronic voting machines, they can't match up the number on the ticket with how you voted.

Just expressing a bit of paranoia here to help those conspiracy theorists along.

I know it, Moss. I did say 'mistake'. I don't believe it either.

Believe me the majority of people who are that poor do in fact collect food stamps. We're at an all time high for the amount of families collecting them.
Also, most states give out free ID cards now or at a dramatically reduced price.
As for the job....YOU HAVE TO SHOW A VALID PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO BE LEGALLY EMPLOYED. Have you ever heard of the I-9 form?

There is NO excuse for anyone not to have a valid photo ID. Period.

Most DMV's have one day where they are open later to accommodate those who need their services and work Mon-Fri 8-5.

You're all out of excuses now.....

I went through that system Mossfern while separated from my husband. They require a valid gov. issued photo ID, a birth certificate and a SS card (not a copy). And you have to re-certify every 6 months. BTW...anyone in your family that is over the age of 16 also has to provide a gov. issued photo ID. They've cut down on abuse of the system this way.

Maybe that's a state regulation and not a federal one.
I assume that you weren't residing in New Jersey.

if you can't successfully navigate the process of obtaining a picture i.d., it's a good bet you're too cognitively challenged to vote in the first place.

that, or there's some other agenda afoot.

I imagine that it's a federal thing as food stamps are a federal program.
I lived in MA BTW.....

If their situation is that bad how will they get to the polls to vote? Oh, but we know how don't we? Acorn or some other left wing group will pick them up on a bus, give them $10 and tell them how to vote and what name to use. Got it!

So?
That doesn't prevent some right wing group doing the same thing and maybe even offering them $15 to vote Republican. The only problem with your scenario is that once someone is in the voting booth, there is no way of controlling which way they vote. If "those people" can be bought, then they can't be relied on for anything.

Sort of like most politicians.

You missed the point. If an ID is required no one can scam the system--or at least it becomes much harder.

The "I jus be too po to get a ID" is bullshit.
