See the 8th amendment..

And stop wasting my time with nonsense.
The 8th is about cruel and unusual punishment against US citizens, accused or convicted of crimes. Funny thing was, is that they never defined what cruel and unusual punishment was, or torture for that matter. Even after it was written. back then it was legal to kill, draw and quarter US citizens for acts of treason. Do you consider that torture or cruel and unusal punishment?

Just what is your fucking problem with minding our own business and following the Constitution, exactly?
Following the Constitution? Like saving Medicare and Social Security, as Ron Paul wants to do? Come on, already. This guy simply doesn't have the chops to do the job.

He's acknowledged a political reality here.. and said during the debate he wants to transition from them.

Reality is (And I've looked) there's just no support for ending these programs.. It doesn't exist on the right, and even if it did.. It doesn't exist with Independents or on the left either.

He acknowledges that political reality, but pretends that he can close down multiple departments and drastically cut defense spending? Sounds like selective acknowledgement to me, and pandering to boot. It's convenient to acknowledge that reality when it involves a handout, but to ignore it when it involves expenditures that he can demonize? With every passing day, Ron Paul makes more of an asshole of himself. It's time for that old asshole to walk away.

Well, in fairness, as the CIC he has a bit more latitude over military activities than he does entitlements..

They can budget whatever they want.. he doesn't have to sign it.

He can keep the military in the garage if he wishes.. He can do a lot more than he can about, say.. SS checks.

Running around, screaming that if you don't support a military solution to each and every problem that ails us, then you love terrorists and should move to Iran.

You people need to get your minds right.

You sound like a bunch of hysterical liberals.
Which of my anti-paul threads calls for a military solution??

Frankly, he won't be the nominee.. and (Jeshu's opinion notwithstanding) even if he is, he may not win.

Everyone knows this, but they're shitting themselves ANYWAY because Paul is advancing some very powerful concepts, and they frighten some people.

1) Adhering to the law of the land, our Constitution.. Even when we don't like it, or think it's particularly expedient politically.

2) Minding our own business internationally.. And using the US military as a vehicle to protect the Us and our interests.

For some, as yet unknown, reason.. even discussing these things at the nationa level is TERRIFYING to people who claim to be "Conservatives"
I have no problem with those concepts. Pretty much support 100%. Why do you suggest otherwise?

And calling everybody a neo-con, war mongers and against the constitution if the don't support Ron Paul for president is even more idiotic. This is why Paul will never sit in the oval office, because of his supporters ... too many of the lunatic fringe.

Pipsqueak countries DO have power to do damage here, aka 9-11. And we have power to aniahlate them. We have had incredible patience with these countries for decades (remarkable given how corrupt and eeevil we are).

And those cave dwellers have hundreds of millions of dollars on hand. They are clearly not below the state level.

The nature of war has changed much like it changed during the Revolution. Back then there were rules of engagement. Armies basically lined up against each other and fired vollies until one team was defeated (Redcoat/Bluecoat). The Indians taught the Colonists Guerilla warfare.

"Why, that's hardly gentlemanly of them!"

Oh yeah, and we won. We fucking broke the rules of engagement and we fucking won. And then went on the create the greatest country on Earth.

The enemies we have now have broken the rules of engagement. If we expect to win we can toss the fucking gentleman's agreement we made decades ago and get these fuckers out of existance. You can call it an excursion from the Constitution. I consider it life, future, freedom and our very existance.

He can shut down every part of government that falls under the executive branch. He can nullify any or all of the 13,652 executive orders given over the years.

SS is a very different thing, of course. So I don't understand what you're trying to say.

They're getting their panties in a bunch because Paul is threatening their sacred cow of bloated government and exposing them for who they really are.
Notice how they say they're all for cutting back government and returning to the Constitution, but when someone comes along who says he's actually going to do it and has a track record of meaning what he says, they go postal.

Ron Paul threatens the "Federal" "Reserve" banksters.
The fascist military/industrial complex.
Foreign aid.

There is also evidence of the lunatic fringe Paulians right here on this forum.
Who constitutes the 'lunatic fringe' on this forum? Me? I am definately a well grounded person. Ask my wife and friends. They'll tell you.

Paul is like a mirror for these people.. He wants what they only pause to give lip service: REAL, LIMITED GOVERNMENT.. REAL CONSTITUTIONAL RESTRAINTS.. REALLY BUTTING THE FUCK OUT AND MINDING OUR OWN BUSINESS.. (He even believes this to a degree that I find troubling)

They hate that.. Because they hate what they see reflected back at them.

A bunch of big spending, Constitution hating thugs afflicted with a completely situational sense of basic morality. Just like the thugs and tyrants they claim to oppose..

Like the liberals, they think that government power, once acquired, isn't to be wasted defending liberty.. It's to be wielded like a club to crush people and groups you don't agree with.

I know I'm not a libertarian.. But if these people are "conservatives" then I'm obviously something else. Because I don't agree with ANY of this.
