It doesn't matter which side of the aisle you're on. You know this is true.

You think that corporations are people?
The only way we can gain sensible control of our country is to ensure that our politicians are not bullied or bought off. This is not an anti-capitalism amendment. It doesn't limit the amount of money corporations can make, it limits the influence of a few. What we need is huge campaign finance reform, not rhetoric. I'm curious though, what issues do you have with it? We can pick it apart; would be an interesting thing to do. |

Corporate "Personhood" acts to limit liability, permitting businesses to do things that no ordinary person would ever risk.. There are beneficial aspects to this.
Further, I don't know that states have a right to meddle in Federal Elections.. Further still, what about curtailing union money? Think corporations are the only ones giving cash, and if they were prohibited from doing so that it would all be small donations from individuals? And it won't help.. As there's infinite ways to compensate a crony.. You don't have to write them a check and call it a campaign donation. What really needs to happen is to suck the power out of DC and send it back to the states where it belongs.. Then nobody will send them a dime. |

Limiting campaign donations completely would be more effective than this approach..
But it still won't work. Not as long as Congress and the executive have the power to run naked through the economy with their regulatory pen in hand. Look at what Obama has done to the energy sector.. Single handed. Without even so much as a vote in Congress? Look at Bush before him? His meddling gave Obama the extra-constitutional power he is exploiting now. That's the problem.. You don't bribe people who can't help you. There's no point. |

The Federal Government should really have very few powers.. Be responsible for very little.
The fact that they have a thumb in every pie, and they can make or break you.. That's why people send them mountains of cash. They want to be declared winners, to have access to the fed money room, and have their competitors laid low. |
