When was the last war we had any business being involved in?

Iraq and Afghanistan.

Afghanistan. We should have just backed off after the Taliban was routed and threatened their very existence if they had any notions of harboring terrorists again.

There is an argument for Afghanistan.

You're either a hardline isolationist, whereby you disavow notions of any and all interaction (as China once did, with predictable results), or you do business with others. To my knowledge, no country on the planet is entirely self-sufficient. And so you trade; trade begets obligations that develop towards spheres of operation not strictly economic.

Or there's no difference between economy and violence, which is arguable.

Tell that to Switzerland.
