Maybe Germany shouldn't have started the first world war. They also shouldn't have disregarded the treaty of Versailles and invaded Poland and then France. Do you really think hitlers goal was only to reestablish Germany to pre WW1 borders? Really?
Germany didn't start it. They just kept it going longer than anybody else wanted, including their allies. It's easy to confuse Austro-Hungary for the Kaiser's Germany.

Hitlers own words reveal that he believed the Soviets were posturing to break the non-aggression pact and invade Western Europe. Considering the massive Soviet build up, I'm not convinced that Hitler's assessment was wrong.
Given the nature of both leaders, it was probably inevitable.

Hitler didn't want war with Britain, France or the US.
I agree about Britain, but he wanted the Saur back from France, and the US never declared war on Germany. Hitler declared war on the US. I have never understood that. I can only imagine he spent days in the bunker cursing Hirohito.

Their treachery was implosive rather than expanding. They eat their own.

Was it fuck inevitable.

If Russia had thought that, they wouldn't have signed trade agreements with Germany that benefited Hitler far more than themselves. Germany was desperate for such as rubber, oil and foodstuffs that only Russia was willing and able to supply and in such vast quantities. And the military concentration was contingency planning also. One doesn't underestimate a rabid wolf.

Really? Then why did they invade Poland? And why was NATO formed later on and why did we fight the cold war for over 50 years? History proves that the communists were trying to do exactly that. Sadly, the US and Britain handed millions of people over to communist rule knowing full well what their fate would be.
The Cold War was necessitated in light of the nuclear age. And how does Russia's own invasion of Poland equate with domination of Europe. Hitler went that far. Stalin never did.

Hitlers own words reveal that he believed the Soviets were posturing to break the non-aggression pact and invade Western Europe. Considering the massive Soviet build up, I'm not convinced that Hitler's assessment was wrong.

Like I said previously, I understand that history painted Hitler as the ultimate evil villain and everyone wants to believe it, but history was written by the victors. You have to view things within the context of those times and sift through the propaganda to have a clearer understanding. Few people are willing to do that, however, out of fear of being labeled a "Nazi". Hitler's own words. Right. The same Hitler who time and again sued for peace, only to invade one sovereign nation after another. We are discussing the same character I take it. He was famous for his perfidy. Of course he would claim that Russia was biding it's time. And even if true, he made the first move (again).

Sorry Scorpio, but this vain attempt to paint Hitler as some meek and gentle character is psychotic at best. This is the same man who tore down Versailles, and re-armed to the point of being virtually unstoppable, prior to invading one peaceful country after another. How the fuck was he misunderstood?

I wasn't claiming that Stalin was hell bent on conquest of the whole of Europe. I was claiming that military conflict between SU and NG was inevitable. Don't get testy with me.

Versailles needed to be repudiated.

Hitler should have re-armed, then set up a

consumer economy..... and Churchill

and Roosevelt should have encouraged that....

NOT paid for it...but encouraged it.

We wound up paying the God-damned reparations tax, anyway....

Stalin didn't go that far because American and British troops were in his way. There are still US troops in Germany to this day because of it.

He was absolutely right to shit on Versailles and he had every right to arm Germany.
There are 2 reasons why Hitler has been forever vilified and why people like you insist that everything he ever said was a lie.
1. Germany lost the war.
2. He said mean things about Jews.

He's villified for invading a string of peaceful nations that were no threat to Germany. One after the next. He's villified because he was a fascist dictator, hell bent upon military domination and expansionism.

Also, there were no troops in Stalin's way. That's simply not true. Even if it was, they would have been the same one's opposing Germany, and that certainly never discouraged Hitler.

I know it. I was responding to that.

You bovine fool. I hope you're accosted by a dozen men in a carpark, and thrashed to within an inch of your worthless life.

Should we make a list of every known leader who invaded other nations that were no threat to them? What makes Hitler so much worse than the rest? Germany lost the war and Hitler said mean things about Jews and nothing more.

Yes, it simply is true and also it's simply true that those troops stayed there for over half a century to keep the Soviets from advancing any further.
