What was it like to live in jimmy carter's america?
when the soviet union was at the height of its power and people didnt know a former actor would become the liberator of eastern europe where you in college when that happened, if so did you fear a nuclear war? Thoughtful replies only please, i was 4 when reagan got elected so i dont know much about that era. |

It was much easier to influence people then too. Much, much easier..
Americans had, for all practical intents and purposes, a handful (and I mean that.. like 5) TV channels, whatever papers were available and the encyclopedia Britannica to consult with regard to Geo-political affairs. It was much easier to sell an idea like "They hate us for our freedom" and, it was easier to sell biased news and studies as established fact. Although it predated him, Clinton was the first President to feel the heat from the internet. W caught it right in the face, and it's liable to wash Obama away. |
