Conversely, an idiot has no options, and so they are only ever more truly what they are. In that lies a strength all it's own. S/he cannot be reasoned with, and so you're left looking for a way to crush them by main force. For that, one requires the consensus of other clever people; while they're arguing among themselves, they stretch themselves thin, and the idiot remains an idiot.

Were the idiot actually clever, they'd refer to it as economy of effort.

Depends who 'wins'. But no one ever does.

It's a closed system, and no one exists outside of what is, try as they might.

It may be that the exaltation exists only where someone's actually trying to win. Not that they can, but that they try at all.

We failed. Weakness is a given, but the temptation was want of strength.

We can never replace the apple, but, God willing, we may come to realise that the apple was never the point to begin with. For myself, the only original sin was the sin of refusing to accept the impossibility of any rubicon, allied with the refusal to burn.
