ALTERNET: Dawkins Destroys Perry on Evolution

There is nothing unusual about Governor Rick Perry. Uneducated fools can be found in every country and every period of history, and they are not unknown in high office. What is unusual about today’s Republican party (I disavow the ridiculous ‘GOP’ nickname, because the party of Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt has lately forfeited all claim to be considered ‘grand’) is this: In any other party and in any other country, an individual may occasionally rise to the top in spite of being an uneducated ignoramus. In today’s Republican Party ‘in spite of’ is not the phrase we need. Ignorance and lack of education are positive qualifications, bordering on obligatory. The article isn't important.. The emphasis added is the point.

In President Obama and his circle we have some of the most (formally) educated people ever to wield power in this country... VS Ronald Reagan, a man who went to Eureka College and was, by their definition, every bit as stupid as they claim Perry and the entire GOP to be.

It is also worth noting that President Bush was educated in the Ivy League and held an MBA...

If there's a lesson to be drawn from this, perhaps it's not that Perry is too stupid to be President.. Perhaps it's that a college credential doesn't make you smart?

This makes a lot of sense, as you leave college with the same brain you walked in with. (Just sayin')

The only other conclusion I can draw is that they are angry with Perry for using his education to learn how to think and solve problems. As opposed to devoting his time to learning what to think, so he might agree with them on a pet theory which has no bearing on any of the challenges America currently faces.

If the "correct" view on evolution is so crucial for a presidential candidate, perhaps they should run Richard Dawkins against Obama in the Democrat primary? Eh?

I like Dawkins a lot, but if a president could solve our economic woes and reduce the size of the fed, he'd be welcome to believe that Raven discovered humanity under a clam shell for all I care.

EscaCsamas 08-28-2011 05:59 AM

Seriously.. We've had a great number of creationists who have served as President for some time now..

And we're to believe THIS is the litmus test that suddenly renders Perry too stupid to be President?

Like I said libs.. Run Richard Dawkins, if you think it's so fuck-all important.

Keep bragging about Obama's College Credential too.. Hammer that point home as he fails hard.

Remind everyone that a college education is worthless unless you can use it to solve problems IRL.

Sitting around the faculty lounge, chatting up the like minded, isn't worthy of being called an "education" Because you can't DO ANYTHING USEFUL WITH IT.

Hold the phone! Libtards constantly chant that religion - be it Christian, Muslim, Jews, or atheist - should have no bearing for the qualifications of a presidential candidate, but evolution is an absolute? How so? How is that belief in a theory any different than religious beliefs?

Libtards once again set up two sets of rules and then claim only the set they want to emphasize at any given moment is the set that everyone else should live by - but don't expect those same, ignorant libtards to ever live by the rules they set. For libtards, rules are only a distraction to impose on others, while ignoring what they preach when it comes to themselves. What a bunch of ignorant fucks libtards are!

FIRE THIS GOD-DAMNED

I really believe that liberals are so tightly focused on WHAT TO THINK that they are impeding their own range of motion TO think critically at all..

Consider all that you have to discard out of hand as a liberal... What you have left is what you use to solve problems.

That's a LOT of limitations, and they're imposed right off the bat... Before any problem solving takes place.

This is progress?

GutleNus 08-28-2011 06:06 AM

PERRY HAS A RIGHT TO BE A CHRISTIAN...

EVEN A FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIAN.

There's an entire editorial (At least. for a psych student, maybe a thesis) tied up in this concept.

It would take someone much smarter than myself to flesh it out properly. But just think of the disadvantage they BEGIN the problem solving process with?

How can you think critically and solve the challenges of the now if you have to discard almost everything practical and useful, and fall back on junk social sciences and all the rest of the liberal poppycock?

THESE PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO THINK UP A MEANS TO DELIVER OUR ECONOMY? THEY'RE REFLEXIVELY ANTI-CAPITALIST! That's an IMPOSSIBLE TASK for a genuine liberal!

They can't solve problems.. Permitting them to even try is insane!
