Clinton didn't balance anything..
Yes, he did. His final budget was in balance, and that was no accident. He already was reducing his deficits before the Republicans took over congress in '94. Clinton was on his way to balancing the budget and would have balanced it whether he had Democrats or Republicans in Congress. The fact that Republicans worked with him only means they get to share in the credit. It is good that they worked with them, unlike the current extremists who are determined to block absolutely anything Obama tries, no matter how conciliatory he tries to be.

Another whopper of a lie. Obama found 500 billion worth of overpayments, in other words, waste, that he redirected.
Evidently he did not since he is still whining about waste in Medicare. If he found it and eliminated it, he would not be stating that it still exists.

We're between 60 and 80 trillion dollars in debt.. There was no "surplus" of funds and there never has been.

If there were, it just means that government stole them.

You have it backwards.. Congress passes a budget.

Clinton signs it.

That's it.

Clinton understood the relationship between the deficit and business expansion.
Clinton continued Bush 41's defense cuts, retroactively eliminated tax cuts to the top 3%, and creat6ed a 5.6 trillion dollar projected surplus

When there is a deficit, private industry has to get in line behind the fed for access to short tern credit capital. A great example, ever wonder why Microsoft didn't put out a single major consumer roll out between 1990 and 1995 ? It was no coincidence. Industry uses short term credit, not their treasury to expand . Innovation is based on consumer demand, and the consumer demand, and the consumers buying power creates jobs, jobs create revenue

The US is a bottom up demand bases economy, always has been

I think the last 4 years have shown us a paradigm shift. China and India will become the "bottom" for consumption soon enough.

I also think that saara is a fucking cunt. It would do alot better just being a less dishonest fucking cunt.

Fuck your drama. Speak your mind like a fucking grown up, without the pathetically transparent tropes. You're more clever than smart. That never works well in the end. Just because it's the inter-webs doesn't make it any less pathetic.

Right-wing nuts are always screaming that the government should not create jobs. Well the government did exactly that to help us get out of the Great Depression. FDR created the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps. The WPA put my grandfather to work when his farm went bankrupt during the depression. Instead of standing in bread lines, he was able to go to work every day doing something useful for the country and earn a decent paycheck and feed his family.

Americans want to work. They don't want to be stuck on unemployment or living in a relative's basement. Our tax dollars are paying out welfare anyway. Why not create jobs? There are things crumbling in our infrastructure, and there are Americans willing and able to fix them for a decent wage.

Enough of waiting for the free market to create jobs by itself. Relying on that just makes sweat shop jobs in China and Vietnam show up. FDR was a good American who created jobs for Americans. Fuck all those right-wing assholes who piss and moan about supposed "socialism" (who don't even understand it). There's nothing wrong with the government creating jobs, as long as they're creating services that are good for America. The Dock Street Theater was created by the WPA. Roads and bridges were built. School houses were painted.

Herbert Hoover thought we should just wait till the market cleared up the depression. If we had followed him, American families would have just continued to starve. The market left unchecked would just create a massive peasant class and a small number of super rich. That kind of system didn't make America strong. A strong middle class did. Today's Republican extremists have gone so far right, they've gone right out of the country. They've made war on the middle class, and we've let them. They took the house claiming they wanted to create jobs, but upon assuming power, spewed the bullshit that the government should not create jobs. Well, they should. Bring back the WPA. Restore America's pride and get people back to work!

And for the brain dead who think WPA kind of work programs are Marxist, you need remedial education. It's Keynesian economics, not Marxism. Read up on it.
uhh....no , its people like you who vote the same year after year and expect change . you are the problem ,their is plenty of money here but your politicians send it overseas . , now have you ever tried to make a nigger work ? those were white men in wpa . niggers geta free ride ....... DON'T BE RACIST !

We want a stock market that is more about gambling and speculation than capitalizing productive industry and creating the products and services that people want and need. We want crony industries to be declared winners in the market, thereby destroying investment and re-directing it in ways that have nothing to do with economic growth and expansion.
That's a huge part of the problem.

No candidate for president (or any other national office, for that matter) can currently follow through on promises of job creation.

It's easy to explain why: The only policy prescription that will definitely create jobs is the federal government hiring people, directly or indirectly, to produce stuff that will help everybody. No politician is capable of getting either a vote in favor of deficit spending or raising taxes in order to pay for such a program. Therefore, no politician can get the federal government to hire anybody.

The only way to convince the private sector to create serious jobs in the US is if manufacturing in the US becomes more attractive to utterly callous businesses than manufacturing in Third-World countries. That means either tariffs which would get the US in serious trouble with the WTO, or gutting all environmental and labor laws so that corporations could pay people pennies an hour, dump toxic chemicals near their home for their trouble, employ their children when families couldn't manage on the income of the parents. and fire and replace them when they get hurt or sick on the job, get pregnant, or complain.

Another way of thinking about it: The Republicans put forward their vision of the future as the 1950's and Leave it to Beaver. But their real vision of the future resembles much more the 1890's and Upton Sinclair's The Jungle.
