A federal judge has ruled that former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld can be sued personally for damages by a former U.S. military contractor who says he was tortured during a nine-month imprisonment in Iraq. |

Save it for quick reference:
TITLE 42 > CHAPTER 21 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 1983. Civil action for deprivation of rights Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress, except that in any action brought against a judicial officer for an act or omission taken in such officer’s judicial capacity, injunctive relief shall not be granted unless a declaratory decree was violated or declaratory relief was unavailable. For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia. |

If you can prove in a court of law that a government agent, operating under color of law, violated any Constitutionally or legally secured right, YOU CAN SUE THAT INDIVIDUAL under the listed Title 42 statute.
And before you say, "Well, I won't get much off him." The real purpose is to grind the offending agent mercilessly through the same oppressive system they would gleefully run you through. Give them a taste. |

'cuz I just have a real problem with doing ill towards others. I'd MUCH rather get shit straightened out, and RIGHT, than to go after folks that are just like me, trying to do some shit-stained job, and get by. |

Unlike you, I have no love for government agents.
If THEY violate someone's rights grind them mercilessly into quivering jelly. Just like THEY would with you. Now, if you have THAT threat hanging over your head will you be more or less likely to callously violate someone else's rights just because you can? |

Well, ME?
Wouldn't. I'm a libra, and I already KNOW that I'm "everyone," to some extent. I know the shit I pulled on/did to others, and I know the reasons I did it. Survival is a Basic Instinct, eh? Why, nay, HOW? could I fault someone for trying to survive, in the best way they know how? If I go down? It might be sad, but if it's ME, I'll make it whatever I want it to be. Imagine this: Being sent to jail/prison for, say, a year. I'd be looking to educate myself, with whatever options were available; I'd be glad that I finally quit smoking, and be looking at some sort of program for losing weight, since I'm a picky eater ROFL!!! ; and I'd be thinking that it was sort of cool to have free housing, free food, free utilities, no taxes, ... well, a LOT of cool shit! I'd get to READ, as much as I wanted; play puzzle games, and actually have a captive audience for multi-player games; but what I'm saying is this : It IS what it is, and it can be whatever YOU want it to be! But that's all of life, I've found |
