We've got a problem building right here.. A big one. That's what I'm worried about. |

My impression, from Pat Buchanan's, "The Great Betrayal," was that, America's "Golden Age" was the late 19th Century and it was dominated by Republicans, who favored business and business favored, at that time, Protectionism, Closed Borders (birth rates were high then; a model Baptist preacher would have 12 kids, not 2.0) and Anti-Unionism. Democrats were the opposite: Pro-Union, Open Borders and Free Trade. Democrats gained the upper hand around 1900.

The West has now become the new ComBloc, adopting hardcore marxist/stalinist based ideologies, economic mismanagement/criminality, fake royal families infecting the apparatus of the state and fighting pointless wars against 3rd world nations and peoples in the name of 'democracy'.
Afghanistan was the downfall of the soviets.....could it be the same for the west? Karl marx was nothing more than a blackmailer trying to shake down the establishment for easy cash by threatening to release the 'i can have it all' virus to base criminally minded people. Born rich and squandered it all but still expected to live the lifestyle, sounds like Gen-Y |

I'm no fan of Marxism, or Marx himself.. But I also know that it's almost always a mistake to dismiss men of tremendous influence out of hand. People who achieve greatness are always worthy of study. Even if the lessons we learn are what NOT TO DO. As far as I know, Marx welcomed free trade, because he believed it would hasten the collapse of capitalism. So, this being my understanding of Marx's stance, I shall vote no. I think he was dead wrong. |

When advertisers tempt people into poor health habits and a whole industry sprouts up around pushing bogus health bettering goods on them and the medical industry responds by selling them as much pills and surgeries as they can justify to an insurance company or get them to pay for out of thier own pocket, instead of teaching them, just as aggressively, good health habits, it would seem like that makes America weaker, not stronger. So, in that regard, "The Free Market," seems not just like a failure, but a monster. |

Even the ignorant savage can understand, "Supply and Demand." It is absolutely impossible to lose anything by importing foreign goods. Period. You can only gain by it. Pretty neat, huh? |

It has nothing to do with your conception of supply and demand. Whenever we spend a dollar on a foreign good, that country has to spend exactly one dollar in our country. That is exactly how it works, it has never been different, it never will be different. ![]() |
