Default Why do Egyptian protestors write their signs in English?
Admittedly, I got this from Mike Savage. But it's an interesting point.
Do Egyptians routinely use English in their day to day communication?? Why are there so many signs written in clear English protesting the Mubarak government???
Who are they directing their complaints to?

They know they can reach the most people & the worlds police (jewmerica) by using English. Tell me you don't know that English or Russian was req'd, by the majority of countries in the world, before the cold war was over? Also. you didn't know there is an American University in Cairo? http://www.aucegypt.edu/Pages/default.aspx

Additionally, Arabic is the "official" language of Egypt.. But the CIA claims English and French are also common and widely understood.

I read once that English (Was, at least) the most common language for foreigners to learn.

Still, if they are speaking to their own people on such a domestic issue, I would expect to see the signs written in their native toungue.
I'm also very suspicious of nObama's involvement in this.

Well, if he kicked this off, it was a foolish move.

Now he's stuck in it, without a good way out.

There are no good choices. Mubarak is a thug and the whole area is just a mess.

At least they're Sunni types. (90%)

Many do. Some Egyptians use French in their day to day communication.

Why are there so many signs written in clear English protesting the Mubarak government???
Egyptians know that their government is going to lie to the rest of the world about the unrest, so they're trying to reach the rest of the world with their message.

Who are they directing their complaints to?
Their directing their complaints to their dictator and his non-Arabic speaking puppeteers

There are also two American high schools, one of which I attended while my father worked in Egypt.

If you speak English, you can get by in Egypt without speaking a word of Arabic...although their English skills vary.

They are their own people. they're speaking to their oppressor and his handlers.

English is the current language of business and diplomacy. It used to be French. You didn't know this?

That's why I'm asking the question, douche. The fact that I know little about Egypt is because it means less to me than the dogshit I wiped off my shoes yesterday.
And you can choose sides all you want. I could give a flying shit.
I just find it curious and believe the whole situation is a broadway show, made for an American audience, and somehow influenced by our president.

Many of the signs were written in English for reasons mentioned earlier, among others. English is the language of world news. Germany and Arabic countries have English language versions of their programs just for that reason. If you weren't aware of these issues then thats fine.

There's more than one reason.
I think one reason is because we can't keep our nose out of everyone's business and they know it.
Just how much in aid have we given them?

Its because Tel Aviv= Wall St.=Washington. The izrayli's are concerned about Egypt because the U.S.'s bribes and mil. h/w may not placate the Egyptians anymore.
