MONDAY, JAN 31, 2011 20:31 ET How not to run for president as a Republican On second thought, maybe teaming up with the "socialist in chief" wasn't the smartest political move http://www.salon.com/news/politics/w...man_2012_obama He's another Morman too I believe. He seems waaay more qualified than most of the other Repub contenders. What do you think? |

The son of billionaire Jon Huntsman, Sr. -- who Forbes ranks at the 937th richest person in the world -- Huntsman was known as a moderate Republican governor, who earned conservative ire for accepting stimulus money from the Obama administration. He also supported reducing greenhouse gas emissions, immigration reform with a pathway for citizenship for some illegal immigrants and civil unions for gays and lesbians. He also raised money for McCain..
I'd vote for Osama Bin Laden first. |

If he runs, might not because they would both diminish each others voting base by splitting them. The Dem base will go batshit insane if they find out how rich his dad is. He'll get all the negative press he can handle. The Tea Party will piss all over him. His role is "donor" |

In truth, there's a big portion of the Republican establishment who would love the guy. They're terrified of anything resembling democracy or responsibility.
They're the party that happily sat in the cold for a half a century.. All they wanted was a place at the trough. Give them a little government $$$ to pass around and, as far as they are concerned, everything is FINE. To be honest: Many every day republicans and democrats have more in common with each other than they do with their own party elites.. |

Yeah, the article said he's only been ambassador for 19 months. Before that, he had just won a governorship w/ 75%+ of the vote.

Ezra Klein asks in The Washington Post, “What is being whispered in Jon Huntsman’s ear?” And Daniel Larison, writing for The American Conservative, says the news “makes no sense at all.” I have to agree with this. It doesn't make a lot of sense.
This guy would have to be SELECTED.. because he won't be elected. |

The salon Article says he accepted the ambassadorship to serve the President (patriotism/crossing-lines) & now he's unhappy w/ his early prognostications. Anyway, he's a new face in the Repub pres field and the estab repubs, like you indicated, will like him unless he has some skeletons in the closet.

Looks like its official now. This is getting interesting. Would anyone in the base vote for a Mormon?
The Mormon primary: vs. Huntsman Mitt and Jon Huntsman Jr. are both Mormons, both wealthy scions of old Utah families, both ex-governors with chiseled features and terrific hair. Both also want to be president. And neither has shown much regard for the other. Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories...#ixzz1Cv5elTD1 |
