Out here in Malaysia before any new plot of land is cleared up for any construction there will be a ritual done and an altar set up by some Non Muslim contractors to appease any Guardian Spirit of the place.

Sometimes even mediums are brought in to negotiate with the Guardian Spirits which at times even ask for an animal sacrifice.

In the past there used to be rumors that tribal children used to be beheaded as a sacrifice but now such case are not seen anymore.
