Lord Anjaneya helped these rishis by killing two demons (kaalan and keyan).If you spend 24 minutes(kadikam) in this place, it leads to moksham,hence the name Thirukadikai or Kadikaasalam(kadikai- 24 minutes,asalam-mountain).Well known saints Thottachariya and erumbiyappa lived in this place.
