You know, the Western ignorance and patronizing approach towards the moslem people (and Oriental world in general) is astonishing. Turkish and Iranians are both bearded people speaking strangely sounding languages so they miust be alike.
When the Iraq war started I could never understand why so much weight was thrown to preserve Iraq as a single state - there clearly were (and remain) groups of people like Kurds or Shia Arabs who would do much better on their own - and who WANT to be on their own. Help the Kurds to get their nationhood - and they will be your allies (even friends) - seemingly. But the West is scared about having to deal with the greater number of smaller unpredictable entities, much better to have a local tyrant who keeps his money in the Western banks and keeps his large domain under the thumb - but in this case why get rid of gaddafis?
Perhaps the best outcome for the West really is a Khalifate where you only have to buy loyalty from the Khalif himself (and 300-500 his immediate family members) and he installs "law and order" in his territories? Maybe we just have to help the moslem radicals to get back to the state which existed by the time of Mohammed's death? Think about it, one (1) voice in the UN, hmmm?
