I'd be just as suspicious about Newt as I was and am about Obama.
Too many fell for promises and well crafted speeches, and by the looks of it, will do so again, one side or the other.
Frankly, all presidents have, in my opinion, used Israel as a pawn or worse. Obama, well I have no trust in the man, especially when it comes to Israel. His predecessors, also, were fair-weather allies but I feel much less fair-weather than Obama. Newt, I was never keen on him, although his Palestinian statement gladdened my heart. Indeed, politicians will do their utmost to double-shuffle the electorate for the vote, whether in the U.S. or elsewhere.

I think Newt's comment has sent many, the media et al, into a spin. It will be interesting if this has a negative or positive impact on his candidacy. The media definitely will not sweep this one under the carpet, especially if he wins.

One thing is definite... it's hard to have any faith in politicians, no matter what their political bent.
