I think it's a significant event and should have been laid on the table many moons ago because:

It targets the myth that all Jews in Israel are colonists from ze Rhineland.
It makes the case that the PalArabs are not the only refugees in the middle east (refugee is the word that will be used, repatriates is not going to fly within your opponent's airspace, not now not ever) .

So every time someone demands or mentions the PalArab right of return for the 750,000 or so the expulsion of 850,000 Jews from Arab lands can be whipped out as a might hammer of STFU-ness.
