Not sure if it helps the discussion. I once tried to throw a steel Boules ball with the same action as one would throw a cricket ball. Not a good idea, it was too damn heavy so I aborted the throw - would have hurt my elbow or wrist otherwise. They can only be lobbed long distances (over a farm dam maybe 25-30m) with a straight arm using a bowling action.

Weight of the ball affects the elbow and wrist joints - which are critical to throwing action. Too heavy an object and you lose the power to throw it. Bowling action isn't nearly as far.
