I think that on the other side of the coin an inflexible attitude towards others who have those views might also be a form of extremism !
Of course. But who's to say whether they were intended to be taken literally or metaphorically? I find the middle path useful in all regards. No need to indulge in speculations. Extremism and fundamentalism, at either end of the spectrum, are to be avoided at all costs.
