I don't know. However long it takes a sperm to travel up a fallopian tube I guess... so if it happened like that the morning after pill wouldn't work.

Now it's hard to say where that falls on the scale of morality - I'm sure the answer varies from person to person. But on a practical level the morning after pill is the same as the regular birth control pill as it prevents the sperm and egg from ever coming together in the first place. A lot of activist types paint is as an abortion pill (which I don't even believe is legal in the US) when it's not. It's a pet peeve of mine.
Mostly because it prevents people from using it - due either to their own misconception or because some pharmacist won't dispense it.

And on a scale of morality I personally believe that if a girl has a situation - be it a drunken mistake, a rape, a broken condom or whatever - where she fears she could make a child that she knows she does not want and cannot take care of the lesser evil would be to make sure that child is not conceived rather than condemn that child and herself to a difficult existence. (and yes I know there is the adoption option - but that's not as easy as one might think, either)
