As someone who is a forum goer, I mainly am attracted to what I enjoy. Things like

- Video Games
- Video Game debates
- Discussing various topics (Sports, Entertainment, Debates, Podcasts/Podcast discussions, etc.)

Don't do this right from the start. Begin with a small number of boards and sub-boards, and steadily increase the number of them as time goes on. It makes your forum look really bad when you have 50 empty boards that no one's willing to post in.
