Water weight would actually probably cause a drop in size faster than fat loss. Subcut water contributes a lot to how big we appear to be. A few things can effect size changes; we're all going to usually wear a larger size as we age, even if we're the same weight. Physiological changes like giving birth, aging, and even surgeries effect our structure and deposition of tissues. Measurements are a great way to keep focus on your goals - While a 39" hip measurement may remain stationary, thus not changing pant size, your waist may go down four inches, which speaks volumes about things like heart health.

Also, no, water weight loss is not good; you want to remain hydrated!
