Most Thais often say ''Hello'' rather than ''Sawasdee,'' the traditional Thai greeting, when they pick up the phone, he said.
But how traditional is "sawasdee" for a greeting? Surely telephones have been around longer? So, isn't saying "hello" more traditional?

Anyway, there is a big difference between how you say the Thai hello and our hello.
