"I only believe in statistics that I doctored myself", (in German: »Ich glaube nur der Statistik, die ich selbst gefälscht habe« ) This slanderous remark was attributed to Churchill by Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels to depict him as a liar. It is still widely believed in German public to originate from Churchill.
