One thing about Orchids is that they are long flowering, which is a plus for exporting -and not as hard to cultivate as one would be led to believe. Some are scented.

This had always been my impression of Orchids. However, last year when in Bangkok on a day trip Ubonwan and I bought some Orchids that cost us nearly 1,000 Baht. We tended them in the hotel bathroom for three days before taking them home to Buriram where Ubonwan and Jakarpong put them in our flower garden. We were very disappointed that within a week they had all died...
