Oh my word! David, I have to wonder if it's the same village near Buri Ram that my mother is from? What a small world. I don't know the name of her village. I'll soon find out when we get there! I'll be sure to avoid any BBQ rat!!!! I'm not that fond of protein! LOL Excuse me while I shake off the thought of new cuisine!!!!

Before I forget. When you are there, do you sleep under a mosquito net? My mom says that I don't need one since the windows have screens at the place we are staying and it's winter. But, I've read differently. What say you?

The village is nearer to the city of Sateuk in the north of Buri Ram Province. Yes, in our home my wife and I sleep under a mosquito net, as does mother and father-in-law. When we have stayed in one of our sisters-in-law's home in a town in the south of Buri Ram Province (near the Cambodian border) we also slept under a mosquito net too. My doctor in the UK tells me that I should take medication against malaria when in that region but I have tried it and have a bad effect from it so don't do so.

I appreciate not everyone will like BBQ rat, but I love a bowl of rice with two fried eggs and a BBQ rat for breakfast. Here is a post showing one being prepared, that is my sister-in-law not my wife.
