And most Thai do not think much of or about their dogs, don't seem to be the attachment that us farangs get for an animal, never really care for them, will not spend to much money on them or pay any attention to them.
I am not so sure about this statement. I was amazed one time when I saw the motorcycle taxi drivers on Soi 11 Sukhumvit giving the street dogs a thorough bath.

Plus, the only Thai family member I have to support is the wifes dog who we had to leave with a good friend of hers in Bangkok. The dog is 17, which is pretty remarkable in itself, and regular gets post cards from the wife.

And in answer to the question posed at the start of the thread, your friends first duty is to his child. So goodbye dog.
