Farangs attract a lot more attention once you get away from the touristy areas. If you are in the countryside, where there are very few English-speaking people, you will draw stares no matter what. When I was at Sahatsakhan, a small village a few kilometers north of Kalasin, I drew stares everywhere I went and I was with my Thai fiancee (now my wife) and her family.
