i like to think that if it doesnt have an advanced nervous system, it doesnt feel any "discomfort" or pain. it may react, but not in a way that causes it discomfort. which is why i eat veggies all the time but not meat. besides. there'd be no reason to feel pain. its not like they can move or anything to get away from whatever is injuring them. a cow can run away from a fire, but a tree just sits there..
